1. Which was NOT an American baseball team for which Grover Cleveland Alexander played?

Answer: Pittsburgh Pirates

Grover was one of 13 children and born in Elba, Nebraska on February 26, 1887. He made his debut in the major leagues on April 15, 1911, playing for the Phillies. Sold to the Cubs in 1917, he played with the Chicago team until 1926 when he was sold to the Cardinals and played with them until retiring in 1930. He was elected to Baseball's Hall of Fame in 1938 and passed away in 1950.
2. What two liquors comprise an Alexander cocktail?

Answer: Gin and Creme de Cacao

Mix equal parts of gin, Creme de Cacao and sweet cream, shake over ice and strain into a glass. A well-known variation of Alexander is made with brandy instead of gin.

The brothers J. Don and S. Don Alexander ran an advertising business and needed dozens of airplanes for their salesmen. When no aircraft company could be found that could supply so may planes, the Alexander brothers created their own aircraft company.

It started in Englewood, Colorado, but later moved to Colorado Springs. At one time in the late 1920s, Alexander was the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world. Their Eaglerock biplane was a popular model and used for barnstorming, crop dusting and airmail delivery.
6. "Alexander's Ragtime Band" was a very popular song. Which prolific American composer wrote it?

Answer: Irving Berlin

Published in 1911, it was Irving Berlin's first major hit song. Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Charles recorded it. Even the Bee Gees sang it on a 1973 TV show "The Midnight Special" and used it on their 1974 tour.

It is a well-eroded feature located to the southwest of the prominent crater Eudoxus and north of Mare Serenitatis. The floor is smooth and dark in the western half, and gradually grows lighter on the eastern side.

Jason Scott Greenspan was born in Newark, NJ in September 1959. He started acting on the New York stage. He has also done voice-over work and has become a spokesman for the Jenny Craig diet system.

Historical scholars date the mosaic to around 100 B.C.E. It depicts the great battle between Alexander the Great and King Darius of Persia which occurred in around 333 B.C.E. It measures 5.82 x 3.13m (approx. 19 x 10 feet).
10. Alexander Graham Bell is best remembered for his invention of the telephone, but which of these other devices did he also invent?

Answer: Metal detector

Although best known for the telephone, Bell is also credited for inventing a wheat husker, hydrofoil and metal detector. He passed away in 1922 at age 75. William Grove invented the hydrogen fuel cell, Samuel Slocum came up with the idea for the stapler and barbed wire was conceived by Joseph Glidden.
