Cartland was born in Birmingham, England. 1901, and published her first novel "Jigsaw" in 1922, which eventually became a bestseller. In 1983, Cartland published 23 novels, a Guinness World Record. She died at the age of 98 in 2000, with 723 published books to her name.

He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 2007, and named Manchester United's greatest player ever in a 2011 worldwide poll by the the club.

Suffering from post-traumatic stress, Currie died at the age of 58, 15 years and a day after the signing of the armistice.

What didn't Thorpe do? In Stockholm at the 1912 Olympics, Thorpe took home the gold medals in both the pentathlon and decathlon. When he returned to the United States, Thorpe played both college and professional football for 13 seasons, from 1915-1928. Thorpe also played professional baseball and basketball.

The pair of Stockholm golds were taken away from Thorpe when it was discovered that he had been paid for playing football before the Games, violating the amateur role. He did not see the medals for the rest of his life, but they were restored in 1985, thirty years after Thorpe's passing.

In 2006, Grisham said that he writes his novels in only six months.

Nasser was the second president of Egypt, serving from 1956 until his death in 1970. It was in 1952 that Nasser led a bloodless coup to oust King Farouk from power in the country. Freeman won the women's 400 meters, her premier event, at the 2000 Olympics in her native Australia, where she also lit the flame for the Games. Freeman received the Order of Australia in 2001 and retired from track in 2003.
