Bordering four of the world's seven continents, the Pacific Ocean spans some sixty-three million square miles and covers nearly one-third of the Earth. It lies between the eastern coast of Asia and the western coasts of North and South America, and extends southward to surround Australia and New Zealand, and north to the Arctic Ocean.

A "bight" is defined as a small, concave bend in a coastline or river. Basically, a bight is shallower and not as deep as a true bay.
The Bight of Benin lies in the northern part of the larger Gulf of Guinea and borders the countries of Benin and Togo. It is some 400 miles wide and almost 200 miles long.
