Crittall Windows, founded in Braintree in 1849 is the world's oldest continuous manufacturer of steel windows. The company supplied windows on the ill-fated Titanic.
The largest turf maze in the world is sited at Saffron Walden - believed to be over 800 years old.
Canvey Island is a reclaimed island in the Thames estuary.
Rayleigh is noted for its historical landmarks like Rayleigh Castle and its windmill built in 1809.
Manningtree claims to be the smallest town in Britain, home to only 200 people.
Loughton has a long history with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Iron Age.
