It was first named Victory, then Dodge Center, but because other places had those names, they agreed on Juneau in 1852, most likely after French-Canadian trader Solomon Juneau, the founder of Milwaukee.
However, the city itself says it was named after Solomon's son Paul Juneau.

Dover is the capital of Delaware. It is also a town in New Jersey in Morris County. In 2010, the population was 18,157. It is located on the Rockaway River and is about 30 miles from New York City.

Springfield is the capital of Illinois. Springfield, Massachusetts, is located in Hampden County on the Connecticut River. In 2020, the population was 155,929, and one of the largest cities in MA. Children's author Dr. Seuss was born in Springfield, MA.

Des Moines is the capital of Iowa. Des Moines is also a city in Washington in King County. In 2020, the population was 32,888. While no evidence was found that Native Americans lived in Des Moines, there is evidence that the Duwamish and Muckleshoot tribes came there to fish and catch clams. The first person known to settle there was a man named John Moore, circa 1867.

Topeka is the capital of Kansas. Topeka is also a town in Indiana. It is seated in LaGrange County. In 2010, the population was 1,153. It was most likely named due to its landscape, which is similar to Topeka, KS.

Frankfort is the capital of Kentucky. Frankfort is also a city in Michigan in Benzie County. In 2010, the population was 1,286. While in Frankfort, one can visit Crystal Lake, the biggest lake in Michigan.

Lansing is the capital of Michigan. Lansing is also a city in Iowa in Allamakee County. In 2020, the population was 968. It is located on the Mississippi River. Lansing, Iowa, is where the Black Hawk Bridge begins on one end and goes to the state of Wisconsin.

Jackson is the capital of Mississippi. Jackson is also a city in California in Amador County. The city was not named after President Jackson but after Colonel Alden Jackson, a well-liked lawyer of the miners in the area.
