Answer: England

When Queen Mary I of England heard the news, she is quoted as having said, "When I am dead and opened, you shall find 'Philip' and 'Calais' lying in my heart". The town did not stay in French possession for long as it was captured by the Spanish in 1596.
2. Which of Napoleon Bonaparte's brothers was born today in 1768?

Answer: Joseph

Joseph was Napoleon's older brother. Napoleon made Joseph King of Naples and Sicily, and later King of Spain. Joseph lived in America for a few years, but returned to Europe before his death.

Answer: William Kennedy Dickson

Dickson was an employee of Thomas Edison. He was the company photographer for Thomas Edison Inc. When Edison decided to try invent a device that would do "for the Eye what the phonograph does for the Ear", Dickson was assigned to the project.

Answer: The Leaning Tower of Pisa

The Tower was closed to the public in order for construction work to correct the leaning took place. The government of Italy had requested assistance in avoiding the toppling of the tower in the late 1960s. After much discussion and debate on the subject, 38 cubic metres of soil was removed from under the raised side of the Tower, another 70 metric tons of soil were removed later and the Tower was declared stable for at least another 200 years.

Answer: Andrew Johnson

Johnson had removed Edwin M. Stanton from the office of Secretary of War and replaced him with Adjutant General Lorenzo Thomas. This resulted in Johnson being charged with High Crimes and Misdemeanors in 1868. Both Johnson and Clinton were acquitted.
6. Which of Meg Ryan's co-stars was born on this day in 1964?

Answer: Nicolas Cage

Ryan and Cage starred together in "City of Angels". Cage was born Nicolas Kim Coppola, he changed his name to Cage so as to avoid claims of nepotism because of his director uncle Francis Ford Coppola.
7. Which Formula 1 driver celebrates his birthday today?

Answer: Lewis Hamilton

Hamilton was suspended from driving in France for a month in December 2007 after being caught speeding at 196km/h (122mph) on a French motorway. His car was also impounded. Hamilton received an MBE from the Queen in the 2009 New Year Honours.

Answer: Catherine of Aragon

Soon after Catherine's wedding to Arthur, Henry's older brother, they both became sick. Arthur died from the illness while Catherine survived. She claimed that the marriage was never consummated and with the consent from the Pope, she married Henry. Henry later tried to have their marriage anulled, which resulted in Henry breaking away from the Catholic Church and forming the Church of England, with himself as it's head.

Answer: Lou Hoover

In 1894, Lou enrolled at Stanford University as the school's only female geology major. She met Herbert Hoover that year at school. He proposed to her via telegram from Australia in 1898 and they married the following year.
10. Which saint's feast day is celebrated today?

Answer: St Raymond of Penafort

St Raymond of Penafort is the patron saint of all lawyers. He was canonized in 1601 by Pope Clement VIII. He died in 1275 and is buried in the cathedral of Barcelona.
