Answer: Construction of the "Dome of the Rock" and expansion of the Umayyad Caliphate

The constrution of the Dome of the Rock was a great feat for Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan because it showed that he had the power and money to make such a wonderful building in only four years.
2. Who was the founder of the Abbasid Caliphate?

Answer: Al-Mansur

Al-Mansur was a conning, brutal, and devious man but also extremely smart. He single handedly conspired against the Umayyad court and led the massacre of them, took control of the empire and renamed it Abbasid meaning "Wise and Strong".

Answer: Hârûn al-Rashîd

Under Hârûn al-Rashîd culture, maths, science, scholarship the arts (including poetry and music), and much else else flourished in the Muslim World. The "Thousand and One Nights" were largely written at his court.

Mehmed II conquered Constantinople, destroyed the remnants of the the Byzantine Empire, expanded the Ottoman Empire, and converted most of Anatolia to Islam. Then he conquered much of south-east Europe.

Answer: Ayyubids and Saracens

Salah-al-Din was originally the Caliph of the Ayyuads and he was proclaimed this after he defeated Nar al-Din and united much of the Middle East. He becomes known as a Saracen while on the Jihad against the Christian West. THe is what the Crusaders called the Muslim soldiers at the time.
