3. If you like almonds, which dish should you choose?

Answer: Cod amandine

The fish is coated with a sauce using sliced almonds. The almonds may also be whole or slivered. The 'amandine' is French in origin but may be referred to as 'almondine' in the US. From Portugal and Galicia in Spain, this dish consists of a variety of fish and potatoes. Similar to other fishermen's stews, the ingredients depend to some extent on what has been caught. Answer: Chateaubriand

Said to be named after the French author and food enthusiast François-René de Chateaubriand, or possibly a breed of cattle, it used to refer to a particular way of preparing the steak. It now tends to refer to the cut of meat itself. At one time a large cut was taken from tenderloin and then cooked between two lesser pieces for flavour and juiciness.

The lesser cuts were then discarded. From the image, you can get a French cat (chat), French water (eau) and French cheese (brie) which should point you in the right direction.

Answer: Daube

A French slow-cooked stew, it usually consists of beef braised in red wine. Daube is also a cooking method, the term dating from the 16th century, and a cooking pot (daubière) that should be used. In earlier centuries, many different types were cooked and typically eaten cold.

10. Which is the dish involving chocolate?

Answer: Derby pie

Created in the US, it is often linked to the Kentucky Derby. It is a chocolate and walnut custard pie. The pie mix is placed inside a pre-baked pie shell before cooking. The image clue could also be from a Derby horse race, the horse having a pi symbol as part of its colours.
