Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In what song does Christmas Eve sing "Hope you don't get gonorreaha?"

Answer: "There Is Life Outside Your Apartment"

Christmas Eve suggests says this to Princeton when he is taking Lucy the Slut home to his apartment. Christmas Eve says many other humourous lines like this including:
"The more you ruv someone, the more you want to kill them."
"What? He not that ugly!" and
"Tried to work in Korean deli, but I am Japanese." She was played by Ann Harada in the original Broadway cast.
2. "It sucks to be you" is the main idea of the second song of "Avenue Q". What other song is this line repeated in?

Answer: "Special"

Lucy the S*** sings:
"I can make you feel, special. When it sucks to be you."
Lucy the S*** is voiced by Stephanie D'Abruzzo who also voices Kate Monster, the lead female role.
3. What is the first real word sung in the musical?

Answer: The

In "Avenue Q Theme", the first real words that are sung are:
"The sun is shining, it's a lovely day. A perfect morning for a kid to play. But you've got lots of bills to pay, what can you do?"
"Avenue Q" is thought of as "Sesame Street" for adults. This song reminds me of the "Sesame Street Theme".
4. Are Trekkie Monster and Kate Monster related?

Answer: No

To answer why, here is a conversation between Princeton and Kate at the beginning of "Everyone's A Little Bit Racist"
"Say, Kate, can I ask you a question?"
"Sure."
"Well, you know Trekkie Monster upstairs?"
"Uh huh."
"Well, he's Trekkie Monster and you're Kate Monster."
"Right."
"You're both monsters."
"Ya."
"Are you two related?"
"What? Princeton, I'm surprised with you! I find that racist!"
"Well, I'm sorry, I was just asking."
"Well, it's a touchy subject. No, not all Monsters are related. What are you saying, that we all look the same to you?!"

Princeton and Kate have a sort of on again and off again relationship throughout "Avenue Q". Princeton is voiced by John Tartaglia, who also voices Rod.
5. If Nicky were gay, would he be free to say it aloud?

Answer: Yes

But he's not gay! His roommate, Rod, is. Nicky and Rod are based off of "Sesame Street"'s Bert and Ernie. Throughout "Avenue Q", Nicky tries to get Rod to come out of the closet, and eventually finds him a boyfriend named Ricky.
6. What's Rod's girlfriend's name and where does she live?

Answer: Her name is Alberta, she lives in Vancouver

Rod sings:
"Her name is Alberta, she lives in Vancouver." Then later mixes up his story to say "So soon I'll be off to Alberta...I mean Vancouver." This is from the song "My Girlfriend (Who Lives In Canada)", one of my favourite songs of the show. Rod is a closeted homosexual and he sings this song to prove that he's not. No one believes him.
7. What does Gary keep doing on the internet?

Answer: Selling his possesions on eBay

Gary Coleman is played by Natalie Venetia Belcon and her character is making fun of the actor Gary Coleman from "Different Strokes". The joke is that Gary Coleman is broke because his parents stole all the money he made. He now makes money off being the superintendent of Avenue Q and selling his possessions because he's famous.
8. In what field is Princeton's degree?

Answer: English

Princeton sings a short song at the beginning of "Avenue Q" called "What Do You Do with a B. A. in English?" He sings about how it is a useless degree and how he has no money because his education won't get him a job. He still can't lose the idea that he "might make, a difference to the human race."
9. How's life for Brian?

Answer: Disappointing

In "It Sucks To Be Me" Brian says that it sucks to be him because he's broke, unemployed, and 32. He also hasn't achieved his dream of being a comedian on late night T. V. Brian was played by Jordan Gelber in the original Broadway version.
10. In "It Sucks To Be Me", which line is sung first?

Answer: "This is real life."

In order, the cast sings:
"We live on Avenue Q."
"This is real life!"
"We live on Avenue Q."
"You're gonna love it!"
"We live on Avenue Q."
"Here's your keys."
"Welcome to Avenue Q!"

The cast of "Avenue Q" in the original Broadway version consisted of seven people. The puppeteers and voicers were John Tartaglia as Princeton and Rod, Stephanie D'Abruzzo as Lucy The Slut and Kate, Rick Lyon as Trekkie, Nicky, and a Bad Idea Bear, and Jennifer Barnhart as Mrs. Thistletwat and a Bad Idea Bear. The live actors were Natalie Venetia Belcon as Gary Coleman, Jordan Gelber as Brian, and Ann Harada as Christmas Eve.
