Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Cowboy's Perfect Match

Answer: Cathy McDavid

The story is set against the backdrop of the American West, but the contemporary American West; it's not a period piece. His name is Ryan DeMere and he has started working as the new wrangler at the Sweetheart Ranch. He meets a beautiful woman there named Bridget O'Malley, who works at the Ranch as the head chef. Ms. McDavid's book is part of her Sweetheart Ranch series of books, along with "A Cowboy's Christmas Proposal" and "The Cowboy's Christmas Baby".
2. Hestia Strikes a Match

Answer: Christine Grillo

Christine Grillo's "Hestia Strikes a Match" is not a period romance either, despite the fact it takes place during the American Civil War. That's because it's a new American Civil War that takes place in 2023. The title character, Hestia Harris, is a 42-year-old woman who works at a retirement village in Baltimore, and the United States has lapsed into another civil war.

They have even retained the Union vs. Confederacy nomenclature of the two sides. Hestia's husband has left her to join the Union.

Hestia's parents have gone with the Confederates. What's a girl to do? Or a middle-aged woman in this case.
3. The Love Match

Answer: Priyanka Taslim

Teenager Zahra Khan comes from noble lineage, Bangladeshi royalty, but lives now in Paterson, New Jersey with her parents, who face some financial difficulties here in their life in the United States. Zahra aspires to go to college, but she currently works at the Chai Ho tea shop to help support the family.

Her mother Amma, meanwhile, endeavors to find a suitable match for her daughter to ensure a comfortable future for her. So Amma has set up a matchmaking attempt with a handsome wealthy suitor named Harun Emon.

The trouble is, Zahra feels a much stronger connection to the new dishwasher at the tea shop, Nayim.
4. The Match

Answer: Sarah Adams

Lead character Evie Jones works for Southern Service Paws, an organization that matches service dogs with people who need them. Evie, who suffers from epilepsy, has a service dog of her own named Charlie. When the organization starts running into financial difficulties, Evie decides to have a fundraiser. Meanwhile a single father named Jacob Broaden with a daughter named Sam who suffers from epilepsy, has an appointment with Evie, that was arranged by Sam who has always wanted a service dog. Despite a not too promising initial meeting between Evie and her client Jacob, they eventually develop feelings for each other.
5. A Match for Addy

Answer: Emma Miller

Author Emma Miller writes romance novels involving the Amish community---now there's a specific genre for ya. In this one, she writes about Addy Coblentz, an Amish woman who fears, as she approaches the age when she should have married by now but hasn't, that she might be missing out on the chance and is headed for life as a spinster. Sharing her fear, Addy's parents hire a matchmaker, to help find a suitable partner. Several are presented, but Addy finds herself enchanted by Gideon Esch, a hired hand who is not well off financially.

The difficulty Addy faces is trying to reconcile her desire for Gideon in the face of her parents' desire for her to be with someone held in a very good opinion in the Amish community.
6. A Match for Emma

Answer: Barbara Carr

This is a Regency romance period piece set in London, England and Brighton. Emma has a wallflower cousin named Marianne who is in love with a poor man named Major, but Marianne's mother (Emma's aunt) insists that Marianne marry Lord Castleton. However, Lord Castleton has the hots for Emma. And similarly, Lord Castleton's domineering uncle, Sir Robert Alston, disapproves of his choice in Emma.
Barbara Carr is a member of the Walsall Writers Group, and has also written regency romances under another name-- as Margaret Eastvale.
7. Match Me If You Can

Answer: Swati Hegde

Swati Hegde is a freelance editor and fiction writing coach who wrote her debut novel with "Match Me If You Can". It's about a young woman named Jia Deshpande, a fashion savvy magazine writer in Mumbai working for a magazine called "Mimosa", a very popular women's magazine.

She also writes a blog though, anonymously, and in this blog, she writes about her feelings regarding true love, which she in part draws from her experiences engaging in matchmaking for her friends. Meanwhile, there is a close family friend named Jaiman Patil who has been Jia's friend since childhood.

He owns a pub which lately has been a struggling business. At the same time, his long-standing hidden feelings for Jia are coming to a head.
8. Meet Your Match

Answer: Kandi Steiner

This is the first book in Ms. Steiner's "Kings of the Ice" series of romance novels that revolve around the sport of ice hockey - how's that for a specific genre! This story's another one about a magazine writer, this time named Maven, whose latest assignment is to cover a popular rookie player for Tampa Bay Lightning, named Vince Tanev.

The arrangement is strained at first as Vince Cool, as he is nicknamed, has a playboy hot stuff image that jibes at first with Maven. But the romance novel trope of enemies at first who fall in love comes reliably to emerge.
9. Playing With Matches

Answer: Hannah Orenstein

The young and ambitious Sasha Goldberg has received her journalism degree from New York University, and shares an apartment with her best friend Caroline. Sadly however, her dream career of being a writer doesn't materialize, and also her boyfriend Jonathan, who always has his face buried in his BlackBerry (despite this book coming out in 2018 when BlackBerrys were largely viewed as outdated), proves to be a disappointment when he betrays Sasha. So, she throws herself into a whole new career as a matchmaker for a dating service called Bliss.

Her clients are a very varied and eccentric and eclectic group ranging from a much older TV executive whom she advises about dating, to 40-year-old baseball fanatic who is a virgin. This allows for a generally humorous writing style, and leads up, inevitably, to Sasha falling for one of her clients.
10. Strike a Match

Answer: Fiona Riley

This 2017 romance novel finds firefighter Sasha McCray pretty much giving up on dating when the last year of matchmaking attempts for her by Samantha Monteiro of the Perfet Match dating service proved fruitless. No sparks to ignite a blaze of passion for this firefighter. And there's Abby Rossmore, an accountant who hates the fact that once people find out she's actually a millionaire, their interest ignites but not for the reasons she would hope for. Samantha's attempts to find her a match also flame out.

But what about Sasha and Abby's own relationship as mutual unlucky in love victims? Maybe they should look at themselves and determine if their friendship might blossom into something more.
