Answer: Steve "Leopard" Leonard

In the first book, "Cirque Du Freak," Steve Leonard is Darren's best friend. But in the second book, "The Vampire's Assistant," he threatens to kill Darren and Larten. In "Allies of the Night," we meet Steve again, and at first believe he is Darren's ally, but it is later revealed that he is the Vampaneze Lord.

2. What does R.V stand for now that he has joined the Vampaneze?

Answer: Righteous Vampaneze.

In the first trilogy, Darren and Evra Von meet this vegetarian, nature-loving protester, R.V. which stood for Reggie Veggie. But, because he blames Darren for the Wolf Man biting off his hands, he replaces them with hooks and joins the Vampaneze under the name "Righteous Vampaneze".

A school inspector, Mr Blaws, comes up to the hotel where Darren, Larten and Harkat are staying, and presents fake forms with Darren's birth certificate, saying he's fifteen and school registration forms for Mahler's High School. He is forced to attend, where he meets his ex-girlfriend from the first trilogy, Debbie Hemlock.

The long scar that Larten has along his left cheek came from Lady Evanna, a frog-obsessed witch, who cut him across the cheek with her long fingernails while he was being rude as a younger vampire.

Darren favours Light Blue as his robe colour. Paris Skyle has dark blue, Mika Ver Leth has Black and Vancha March wears purple animal hides.

Des Tiny comes to Vampire Mountain and reveals that there will be three hunters destined to go up against the Vampaneze Lord. His fingers glow red and he states that there will be three chances for them to kill the Vampaneze Lord. Non-vampires can help them, but no other vampires can.

8. What body part does Darren lose in battle?

Answer: Thumb

Darren gets his thumb lopped off during the battle of the Vampaneze, outside the Cirque du Freak. Vancha March and Hibernius Tall stitch it up and it later is fully reattached.

9. Whose face do Lady Evanna's frogs form into the shape of?

Answer: Arra Sails

When the four people arrive at Evanna's house, she orders her frogs to form a picture of Larten's dead friend and ex-mate, Arra Sails, who died fighting the Vampaneze in the "Vampire Rites" trilogy.

Answer: Gannen Harst

Vancha March's real name is Vancha Harst, and he was originally picked up by the Vampaneze when his parents abandoned him and his brother as children. Gannen stayed with them, but Vancha left after seeing their horrific laws in practise. Paris Skyle re-blooded him as a Vampire rather than a Vampaneze.
