Nanny says that Black Aliss really knew her stories and would be in as many as three at one time. She asks Granny if the sleeping castle is "A Black Aliss job?" Granny agrees that it could be, or someone like her - and that turns out to be Lily.

When Nanny suggests that her own experience at balls means she should go in Magrat's place, the shock means there is no resistance when Granny says "Look at me, Magrat Garlick".

Gammer Brevis worries that they might be seeing the end of witchcraft in their parts. She needn't worry.

One would think that Nanny at least would have scumble, but certainly not the others. While the other witches were deciding how to cover Desiderata's territory, Nanny and Granny were wondering who would get the wand, never guessing that it was already on its way to Magrat.

The apple sellers trick was used by Granny and Magrat in 'Wyrd Sisters'. Here it was one of the guards who saw their brooms and assumed they were on the cleaning staff.
