Mattie Wise was the wise woman who was accused of doing witchcraft and fled Kingsbridge because they were going to kill her. She made healing potions and helped a lot of people; the accusations were false.
2. Who broke Ralph's nose?

Answer: Wulfric

Wulfric broke Ralph's nose because Ralph was harassing his fiancé, Annet. Annet didn't end up marrying Wulfric because he didn't inherit his father's lands when he died. She married someone else shortly after.
3. Who helped Thomas Langley bury the very important letter in the forest and told him to dig it back up when he died?

Answer: Merthin

Merthin, Ralph, Caris and Gwenda were all in the forest when they saw Thomas kill two knights. Merthin was the only one who stayed; the other three ran off because they were scared.

Gwenda and Sam killed him and his assistant Alan Fernhill in the forest near Shiring. Sam heard his mother Gwenda yelling because Ralph was trying to force Gwenda to have sex with him.

Sam never found out that Ralph was his real father. He stabbed him in the forest when he saw that he was trying to force his mother. When he stabbed him, Ralph tried to tell him that he was his father and that's when Gwenda stabbed him in the mouth. Only Ralph, Gwenda and Ralph's assistant, Alan Fernhill, knew the truth. Alan was killed by Gwenda.

Answer: Margery and Bishop Richard

They saw Margery and Bishop Richard having an affair in one of the private rooms in the hospital. Margery was engaged to be married soon and Godwyn used the information to his advantage to be elected as prior of Kingsbridge.
10. How did Godwyn die?

Answer: he caught the plague

He caught the plague after he and the rest of the monks ran away to St-John-in-the-forest. Most of the monks died even though they tried to run away from it.
