Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The film opens with a trio of adrenaline junkies climbing a cliffside. Do they all survive the climb?

Answer: No

As this movie opens, Bex, her husband Dan, and their friend Hunter climb up the side of a colossal rock face, securing their way up the intense cliff and facing the abject terror that comes with the adrenaline rush they've elected to partake in. As Dan looks for a spot to secure his rope, however, he places his hand into a hole in the rock wall and awakens a swarm of bats, jolting him backwards. As he scrambles at the end of the line, he's unable to gain purchase on the rock and the rope comes loose, sending him hurtling to the ground.

Nearly a year later, Bex continues to struggle with Dan's death. She spends her nights drinking while her father tries to convince her out of her depression. It's why he calls Hunter, hoping that she'll be able to snap Bex out of her state. What she ends up doing is convincing Bex to join her on a big stunt on the one-year anniversary of Dan's death.
2. Hunter convinces Bex to climb a massive, decommissioned TV tower in the desert. She claims it's double the height of which of these?

Answer: The Eiffel Tower

Bex and Hunter drive out to the desert with two objectives, both of which involve climbing the 2,000 ft B67 TV tower. For Bex, it's to (reluctantly) head to the top to scatter Dan's ashes and finally obtain the closure she's been seeking; for Hunter, it's to show off to her followers, and give them an inspirational content drop.

As the pair head out to the site they find that the landscape is at least a bit more unforgiving than they anticipated. Bex nearly turns around, but Hunter's motivation pushes her to start the immense climb. Though it's risky and the pair only have each other to tether to, they reach the platform at the top and look out over the nearly-empty expanse.
3. The ladder to the top of the tower collapses while who's climbing down it?

Answer: Bex

After the girls have their emotional moment with Dan's remains and the pair do more death-defying stunts for Hunter's camera phone, the pair decide to begin their descent down the ladder, their only means of returning to terra firma.

Unfortunately, when Bex starts to head down the first few rungs, the ladder pulls itself off the structure, having been loosened by Hunter's earlier horseplay, and as she starts to fall, Hunter thinks fast, holds tightly to their tether, and winds it around the spire at the top of the structure, managing to pull Bex up while the ladder crashes to the ground below. Nothing is spared from the upper portion of the tower. There's no way down. There's nothing to do but wait for help.
4. The girls get no cell phone signal on the top of the tower, so they decide to drop Hunter's phone off the side in which of these?

Answer: Shoe

Although Hunter reassures Bex that someone, surely, will come looking for them within the next few hours since her followers will understand that something bad has happened, the girls try other means of contacting people on the ground below. Realizing that neither of their cell phones work at their height whether it's a range issue or a transmission blockage, they toy with the idea of getting lower to get a better signal (Hunter even climbs down on the last remaining rungs and reaches to see if it'll work).

Their last ditch effort in this regard is to toss Hunter's phone to the ground, 2,000 ft below, with a message waiting to send. The girls put it in one of Hunter's shoes, pad it in with her push-up bra, and toss it down the side of the structure. Unfortunately, it hits one of the satellite dishes on the way down, dislodging it from the shoe and breaking when it hits the ground. The message never sends.
5. What's in the emergency box on the top of the tower?

Answer: Flare Gun

There is a small bit of hope at the top of the tower since the only thing waiting on the spire is a small emergency box containing a pair of binoculars and a flare gun with a single shot. Using the binoculars the girls are able to spy a nearby RV, but they wait until later in the evening to fire the gun, taking advantage of the darkness to ensure their flare is seen.

Unfortunately, the men in the RV aren't particularly interested in saving the duo. Instead, they drive over to the gate and steal Hunter's car before departing, never to be seen again.
6. The girls' backpack drops off the tower at one point, prompting Hunter to retrieve it. Where does it fall?

Answer: Onto a satellite dish

Though the girls' single backpack (containing their water and a couple of other items) falls when the ladder collapses, it lands on the satellite dishes only a short distance down. When Bex, going through her phone, finds evidence leading her to believe that Hunter slept with Dan, Hunter tries to recompense for the lie by offering to climb down and collect their belongings with the hope that they will be their key to surviving.

The rope barely reaches, forcing Hunter to disconnect from the tether to drop to the dish, and then use her selfie stick to pull the rope back over.

It is enough, fortunately, for them to get the bag back up to the platform, though not without a significant scare.
7. The girls have a drone in their possession that they use to try and contact help, but first it needs to be charged. Bex is able to do this using which of these items?

Answer: Wedding ring

One of the last items that the girls have to use, found in the dropped backpack, is a phone-controlled drone, and once the bag is retrieved, this option is explored...until the battery nearly runs out. Realizing that there's a single opportunity to get it recharged, Bex climbs the spire alone, aiming to plug the charging cable into the blinking light at the top of the tower using a method that Hunter taught her at a diner a few days earlier. The problem is that the prongs on her cable won't fit inside. To make it reach, she removes her wedding ring, sticking it into the socket to get it to connect.

When the drone is finally let go with a message noting the girls' whereabouts, it nearly makes it to the motel they were staying at before it's struck by a passing semi truck and destroyed. No one finds the note.
8. After days without food and low on water, Bex realizes which of these?

Answer: That she's been hallucinating.

When all seems lost, Bex realizes that the only real means of hope lies in her dropping her phone to the ground in hopes that it gains a signal to send out a single message (which she writes to her father). The problem she discovers, however, is that while she intends to send it down in a better-padded shoe, Hunter's other shoe isn't readily available.

This is because while Bex believed she'd been talking to Hunter the entire time, Hunter actually died trying to retrieve the backpack, dropping back onto the satellite dish and bleeding out during Bex's attempt to pull her and the backpack up.

When Bex looks down over the side of the tower, sure enough, her friend is dead, looking up to the sky. She's been alone on the tower for more than a day.
9. The longer that she's on the tower, the more likely Bex is to be attacked by which of these?

Answer: Vultures

The girls encountered vultures eating a still-alive coyote on their walk up to the tower and, foreshadowing aside, Hunter remarked that it was still survival of the fittest out in the desert. At the top of the tower, Bex is attacked by these scavengers a few times-- once when she tries to plug the drone into the top of the spire and once when she discovers that Hunter's body is below. Awakening to find a vulture picking away at her own wounds, she grabs it, wrings its neck, beats it against the tower, and then eats what she can to build her energy back up.

She has one last attempt to save her life, and it requires her energy. Otherwise, she won't make it down to Hunter.
10. In one last ditch effort, Bex tries to descend the tower. Does she survive?

Answer: Yes

With the only line available to her and knowing there's no way back up, Bex scrambles down to the satellite dishes and to Hunter's body, typing in the message on her phone when she makes it there. She places the phone in Hunter's remaining shoe, but fearing another worst-case scenario, she crams the shoe into Hunter's abdomen, opened by the vulture that had been feasting on her remains. It's the only way she can be assured it'll survive the trip down. And then she pushes and waits.

That evening, Bex's father drives into the desert, following the trails to the flashing of emergency lights. Arriving at the tower, he finds the paramedics placing a tarp over a body but, while he fears the worst, Bex emerges from an ambulance and embraces him, having survived the ordeal.
