When The Toad hears that Roddy is from Kensington, he wants to show Roddy his collection of things from the world above because he thinks that Roddy will be appreciative of them.

Rita's boat is the Jammy Dodger. On this boat is where Rita and Roddy first meet because he is trying to find a ride back to the surface world. Much of the action in the movie happens on the boat. The boat is destroyed when Roddy and Rita get to the rapids at Hyde Park.

When Roddy pays Rita for her services in getting him back home, he gives her some extra so that she can get a Jammy Dodger II. At the end of the movie he offers to be her first mate on the Jammy Dodger II when she gets one.

Sid comes out of the kitchen sink after a burst water main sent him up the pipe. He decides to stay in Roddy's apartment and settles in on the couch to eat and watch television on the big screen. Roddy doesn't want him around and tells him that they have a jacuzzi, which is really the toilet. Roddy attempts to get Sid to jump in the toilet, but Sid pushes Roddy in instead, because Sid knows that it is a toilet and not a jacuzzi. Sid then flushes Roddy down the toilet, beginning Roddy's adventure.

After Spike and Whitey mistake Roddy for 'Millicent Bystander', Rita proceeds to tell them that he is a dangerous international jewel thief. After Rita and Roddy escape, Spike puts out wanted posters for Millicent Bystander. One of Rita's younger brothers finds one and wants to turn Roddy in to get the reward money.

Rita's dad broke all the bones in his body trying to get the ruby. According to Rita, it fell off of the queen's crown and is going to be the answer to her family's problems. Roddy looks at it and determines that it is fake and breaks it into many pieces which fall into the water.

When Roddy first sees the slugs he is scared and screams, which makes them scream as well. After this first encounter, the slugs are found at different times during the movie providing music for the occasion.
