When the emotions were able to get out of the jar with the help of Riley's deep dark secret, Lance and Bloofy escaped as well. When Joy asked the Deep Dark Secret if it wanted to escape, it closed the vault door.

Nostalgia kept coming through a side door in Headquarters. The other emotions would send her away telling her not to come back for another ten years. Nostalgia was dressed as an old woman.

Later, Joy went back to lure Riley's deep dark secret out of the vault and coax the secret out of him. Riley's deep dark secret told Joy that she burned a hole in a rug and never told her parents about it. When Joy told Riley's deep dark secret she thought the secret was about Riley peeing in the public pool, the deep dark secret ran back into the vault and locked the door.

"Inside Out 2" took place two years after the original movie. When "Inside Out 2" began, Joy was seen first in Headquarters as Riley was getting ready to play in a hockey game and she was excited. Along with the original emotions, Riley develops new emotions as she prepares for high school. She also has an island for friendships that is larger than her island for family.

Riley was really excited about going to hockey camp for three days and playing hockey with the high school hockey team, the Firehawks. Her favorite high school hockey player was Valentina Ortiz.
