'Murder on the Orient Express' is the title of a novel by the crime writer Agatha Christie featuring the detective Hercule Poirot. The novel was made into a movie in both 1974 and 2017. The story sees Hercule Poirot investigate a murder on the Orient Express train when it becomes stuck in heavy snow.

In the 1974 movie Albert Finney played Hercule Poirot while Kenneth Branagh took the role in the 2017 version.

Peterson killed Maurice Chenoweth.

The movie stars Ray Milland and Grace Kelly as married couple Tony and Margot Wendice along with Robert Cummings as Margot's lover Mark Halliday.

'Murder by Death' is a 1976 film which parodies crime fiction, particularly the 'country-house whodunit'. In the film Lionel Twain, played by the novelist Truman Capote, invites five renowned detectives and their partners to his house for "dinner and a murder".

After the butler and Twain are killed the detectives have to work out who the murderer is. The five detectives are all pastiches of fictional detectives such as Sam Spade, Miss Marple and Dashiell Hammett's Nick and Nora Charles.
