"Everything's going to change now, isn't it", said Hermione at the end of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". She wasn't kidding. Out go the floppy hairstyles, and in comes a dark atmosphere of bad tempers and dread. Danger is near, whether at school or at home. Harry and his cousin Dudley are attacked by dementors in Little Whinging. Harry fends them off with his Patronus charm and then receives word from the Ministry of Magic that he's expelled from Hogwarts for doing so. Thanks to Dumbledore's foresight and advocacy he is reinstated. On arrival at the Hogwarts station he is greeted by Draco Malfoy, from Slytherin House, his constant school rival. Draco, son of Lucius, one of Voldemort's supporters, expresses surprise that Harry is allowed out after his "crimes".
Draco Malfoy was played by Tom Felton in all eight movies.
2. Luna Lovegood
Answer: Ravenclaw
As Harry and his regular companions Ron and Hermione are readying to board the apparently "horseless" carriages that take pupils from the station to Hogwarts School, Harry is amazed to see strange skeletal, winged, horse-like creatures harnessed to the carriages. Ron and Hermione cannot see these animals. Hermione introduces Harry to Luna Lovegood (she has to check herself from calling her Loony), a Ravenclaw pupil, and a new character for the movie franchise. Luna tells Harry that she can see the creatures. She explains that they are called thestrals, creatures that are only visible to those who have seen death. Of course, Harry has seen his fellow competitor Cedric Diggory murdered in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", so that explains why he can now see them for the first time.
Evanna Lynch played Luna Lovegood for the remainder of the series of movies.
3. Seamus Finnigan
Answer: Gryffindor
Harry is berated in the Gryffindor Common Room by Seamus Finnigan. Unknown to Harry, the Ministry of Magic has been engaged in a propaganda campaign against him and Dumbledore, with the wizarding newspaper "The Daily Prophet" calling Harry "The Boy Who Lies". The Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, is dead set on denying the re-emergence of Voldemort. Seamus says that his mother nearly stopped him returning to Hogwarts because of what Harry said, and blames Harry for telling lies about what happened to Cedric. Ron stands up for his friend, and Harry leaves the room in a bad temper.
Devon Murray played Seamus in all eight movies.
4. Neville Longbottom
Answer: Gryffindor
Harry is frustrated by being excluded from The Order of the Phoenix, an organization Dumbledore put together to fight Voldemort and his supporters, and by the refusal of the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Dolores Umbridge, to teach practical spells. With Ron and Hermione, he sets up Dumbledore's Army, a group of pupils who Harry will train in combat using the skills he has acquired. They need a place to practice in secret. Neville Longbottom, Harry's friend from Gryffindor, discovers the Room of Requirement, a special room that provides what is required by someone when they are in great need, and, hence, perfect for Dumbledore's Army.
Neville was played by Matthew Lewis in all eight movies.
5. Parvati Patil
Answer: Gryffindor
Dumbledore's Army (DA) makes great strides under Harry's tuition. He teaches his fellow pupils skills and spells for combat, and instructs them in the difficult Patronus Charm, an essential and powerful defensive tool. Among the members of DA, are Parvati Patil, and her twin sister Padma. They are both in Gryffindor (a difference from the books).
Shefali Chowdhury played Parvati Patil in "Order of the Phoenix" and two more of the movies.
6. Gregory Goyle
Answer: Slytherin
Dolores Umbridge is convinced there are secret gatherings of students organized by Dumbledore. She takes the role of High Inquisitor at Hogwarts to stamp out "incorrect practices" and, together with Argus Filch, the Hogwarts caretaker, and a group of students who volunteer to be part of her Inquisitorial Squad, she prevents perceived misbehavior and seeks the secret meeting place of Dumbledore's Army. Gregory Goyle, and sidekick Vincent Crabbe, both stooges of Draco Malfoy from Slytherin House, join him in Umbridge's Inquisitorial Squad.
Josh Herdman played Goyle in all eight movies.
7. Cho Chang
Answer: Ravenclaw
After much effort, and with Dumbledore's Army getting confident and proficient in the skills needed to fight, Umbridge succeeds in finding the secret training room. With her Inquisitorial Squad she burst into the room to catch the students in a lesson with Harry. Cho Chang from Ravenclaw was the person who gave away the location, which was particularly galling for Harry, as she was the object of his affection, and they had been getting close. Harry later blanks Cho when she comes to apologize, unaware that Umbridge has illegally used Veritaserum on her to get the information.
Katie Leung played Cho Chang in the final five of the "Harry Potter" movies.
8. Pansy Parkinson
Answer: Slytherin
With Filch and her Inquisitorial Squad, Umbridge rounds up the ringleaders from Dumbledore's Army and confronts Dumbledore in his office, along with Fudge and his colleagues from the Ministry. Dumbledore says the students had formed Dumbledore's Army under his instruction. Fudge prepares to send him to Azkaban, but Dumbledore escapes in a flash of light together with his Phoenix, Fawkes. Dolores Umbridge is named Headmistress of Hogwarts. Along with fellow Slytherin House members from Harry's year, Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle, Pansy Parkinson is part of the Inquisitorial Squad that holds the captured members of Dumbledore's Army before they are punished by being tortured by Umbridge's blood quills.
Lauren Shotton is one of three actors to have played Pansy Parkinson in the "Harry Potter" movies. She was in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix".
9. Fred Weasley
Answer: Gryffindor
Umbridge rules the school with a rod of iron. Any student dissent or misbehavior is quashed. Ron's older brothers, the twins Fred and George Weasley, both of Gryffindor, decide the academic life is not for them, and disrupt the sitting of the OWL exams with a spectacular display of magical pyrotechnics. They leave Hogwarts on a high, planning to set up a joke shop.
Fred was played in all eight movies by James Phelps.
10. Ginny Weasley
Answer: Gryffindor
Throughout the movie it becomes clear what a link there is between Harry and Voldemort. Dumbledore has kept himself away from Harry because of that, and had Severus Snape teach Harry how to block Voldemort from reading his mind. Harry sees a vision where his godfather Sirius Black is in danger in the Department of Mysteries of the Ministry of Magic. After escaping Umbridge, Harry wants to go to rescue Sirius. He is persuaded that he should not do this alone, so he goes to London along with Hermione, Ron, Neville, Luna, and Ron's younger sister Ginny, a very skilled witch from Gryffindor. They travel on thestrals - as suggested by Luna. At the Ministry they find that the vision is a trick and confront Voldemort's supporters, who are trying to get a prophecy about Harry and Voldemort. Members of the Order of the Phoenix arrive to help, Sirius is killed, and Dumbledore duels with Voldemort. Fudge has to admit Voldemort is back.
Bonnie Wright played Ginny Weasley in all eight movies.
