Answer: Han Solo

Han Solo is played by the American actor Harrison Ford. He is a smuggler who flies the starship the Millennium Falcon and in 'Episode IV' is hired by Luke and Obi-Wan to transport them to the planet Alderaan. The character also appears in 'Episodes V', 'IV' and 'VII' and there are references to or brief appearances by the character in 'Episodes VIII' and 'IX'.

The character's back story is explored in the 2018 film 'Solo: A Star Wars Story'.
2. Princess of Alderaan and a leader of the Rebel Alliance

Answer: Leia Organa

Princess Leia Organa is played by Carrie Fisher. She is a member of the Imperial Senate and a secret leader of the Rebel Alliance. It is Princess Leia who hides the plans to the Death Star in R2D2 and sends him to find Obi-Wan Kenobi. The character also appears in 'Episodes V', 'VI', 'VII', 'VIII' and 'IX' and is shown being born at the end of 'Episode III'.

Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin is played by the British actor Peter Cushing. Tarkin is a high ranking officer in the forces of the Galactic Empire and commander of the Death Star. He is killed at the end of the film when the Death Star is destroyed with him still on board.

The character also appears as a younger man in 'Episode III', where he is played by Wayne Pygram and a CGI likeness of Peter Cushing is used for the character's appearances in the film 'Rogue One'.

C-3PO is a protocol droid who has the appearance of a gold humanoid robot. The character is well spoken and assists with translation, as he as fluent in many languages and other forms of communication. C-3PO is played by the English actor Anthony Daniels who has played the character in 'Episodes I' to 'IX' of the 'Star Wars' movie franchise.

Answer: Chewbacca

Chewbacca is a Wookie, a type of tall, hairy alien species from the planet Kashyyyk. The character of Chewbacca does not speak English, instead communicating in the Shyriiwook language which sounds like a series of animal growls and howls. Chewbacca is Han Solo's friend and is the first mate and co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon. Chewbacca was played by Peter Mayhew in 'Episodes III'-'VII' and then by Joonas Suotamo in 'Episodes VII'-'IX' and in the movie 'Solo: A Star Wars Story'.

R2D2 is an astromech droid capable of interfacing with and fixing various electrical systems, who is purchased second hand by Luke at the beginning of the movie. R2D2 has appeared in 'Episode I'-'IX' of the 'Star Wars' movies and was played by the English actor Kenny Baker in 'Episode IV'. Baker had dwarfism and as a result was 3ft 8in tall and thus could fit inside the costume and operate R2D2.

Darth Vader is the main antagonist of 'Episode IV' and is a cyborg Sith Lord of the Galactic Empire. Although Vader is the main villain of the film, the character is actually working for the Emperor Palpatine. In 'Episode IV', Vader captures Princess Leia hoping to find the stolen plans for the Death Star, leading to her being rescued by Han, Luke and Obi-Wan. Darth Vader is played by the English actor David Prowse but is voiced by the American actor James Earl Jones.
10. A Rodian bounty hunter hired to capture the smuggler and tracks him down in the Mos Eisley cantina

Answer: Greedo

Greedo is a bounty hunter working for Jabba the Hutt who has to capture Han Solo following Han losing cargo belonging to Jabba. Greedo and Han meet in Mos Eisley cantina on Tatooine where Greedo confronts Han. Han promises he can pay Jabba back soon however the meeting ends with Han shooting Greedo.

Originally Han shoots Greedo first however this was later changed so that Greedo shoots first and Han shoots him in defence. The controversy around this edit is referred to by fans as "Han shot first".
