The duet performed by Freda and Cliff on the album is called 'Saving a Life' and they also sang it live on tour. Interestingly, Freda's sister, Scherrie, was one of three female backing singers in the show and sang 'Do You Ever' with Cliff on stage. Holland, Dozier, Holland wrote so many huge hits that they probably deserve a quiz of their own. Among the many songs they wrote are 'Can I Get a Witness' for Marvin Gaye, 'Baby Love' and 'Stop! In the Name of Love' for The Supremes and 'Reach Out I'll Be There' for The Four Tops. During their Motown years, Lamont Dozier and Brian Holland wrote the music and dealt with production while Eddie Holland provided the lyrics and vocal arrangements. Dozier did not sing on the album but he did perform on the tour, singing 'How Sweet It Is (to be Loved by You)', which was another Marvin Gaye hit written by the prolific trio.

The song was taken from the album 'I'm Nearly Famous', which did much to revive Cliff's career. He also sang the title song from this album during the show.

'When a Man Loves a Woman' reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1966 and number four on the UK Singles Chart in 1965. The song charted again in the UK, reaching number two when it was re-released in 1987. Percy sang it during the tour and also performed 'I'm Your Puppet' as a duet on stage and on the album.

The song was a hit for James and Bobby Purify in 1966. 'My Girl' was sung by The Temptations in 1965 and Sam Cooke sang 'Another Saturday Night' in 1963. 'Reach Out I'll Be There' was a number one hit in both the USA and the UK in 1966 for The Four Tops.

'Teardrops' was recorded by Cecil Womack and his wife Linda, who was the daughter of soul legend Sam Cooke. They had more success in the UK than in their home country, with 'Teardrops' reaching number three on the Singles Chart. They had an earlier hit in 1983 with 'Love Wars'. Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell had success with 'You're All I Need to Get By' and the other two options are better known for close harmony than soul music. Candi Staton had a huge hit in 1976 with 'Young Hearts Run Free'. She did not appear on the tour and the song was not covered on stage.

All of these reached the number one spot, but only 'Living Doll' dates back to the 1950s. 'Move It' was his first big hit when it reached number two in 1958 but 'Living Doll' was the first to hit the top, becoming the first of many other songs by Cliff to reach number one in the UK.

He achieved number one hits in the UK in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, but the run was broken in the 2000s when his highest chart position was number two with '21st Century Christmas' backed by a re-release of 'Move It'.

The 1986 version of 'Living Doll' featured the cast of the comedy programme 'The Young Ones', which took its title from another Cliff song.

Roberta sang 'When I Was Your Baby' on the album, but did not appear on tour. Cliff did sing the song, with one of the backing singers, Suzie Furlonger. Roberta took 'Killing Me Softly' to number one in 1973 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and to number six in the UK.

She also had massive success with 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' in 1972 and 'Feel Like Makin' Love' in 1974. Further success came in partnership with Donnie Hathaway, notably with 'Where Is the Love' in 1972 and also with Peabo Bryson in 1983 with 'Tonight, I Celebrate My Love'.

'Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In' was the first medley to reach number one in the USA, and spent six weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1969. It managed only number eleven in the UK, although it was their biggest hit. They also had success with 'Wedding Day Blues', 'One Less Bell to Answer' and 'Up, Up and Away'. On the tour, Billy and Marilyn sang 'Up, Up and Away/Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In' as a medley, as well as joining Cliff to sing 'Oh How Happy', which also appears on the album. The show 'Hair' had opened on Broadway in 1968 and had caused much controversy due to its nudity, sexual themes and acceptance of drug use.

Sadly, Nickolas died in August 2011. He and Valerie wrote 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough', 'You're All I Need to Get By' and 'I'm Every Woman' among many others. 'Solid' was their biggest hit as performers, reaching number three on the UK Singles Chart and number twelve on the Billboard Hot 100. On the 'Soulicious' album Valerie sings 'Every Piece of My Broken Heart' with Cliff although, understandably, she did not tour with him. Peabo Bryson also appeared on the album, singing 'Birds of a Feather'.

Answer: Miss You Nights

Although he sang all of these songs, it is 'Miss You Nights', which was also from the 'I'm Nearly Famous' album, which includes these lyrics. It topped a poll of more than 20,000 Radio 2 listeners in 2006, with more than twice as many votes as the next song according to songfacts.com. Surprisingly, the single reached only number fifteen on the UK Singles chart in 1976, although the next release was 'Devil Woman' which did much better.

It took until 1979 for Cliff to reach number one again, with 'We Don't Talk Anymore' and, yes, he sang that one too on tour.
