Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
Mick Jagger is the lead singer of The Rolling Stones, a role he has held since the band's formation in 1962. However, Keith Richards, best known as the rhythm guitarist and co-songwriter for the band, began taking on lead vocal duties in the late 1960s. His first solo vocal appearance was on "You Got the Silver" on the 1969 album "Let It Bleed".
Over time, Richards' vocal contributions became more frequent, with him singing lead on at least one track on most of the band's subsequent albums. These are the songs used in this quiz, but there are several more:
"Happy", released on "Exile on Main St." (1972)
"Coming Down Again" ("Goats Head Soup", 1973)
"Before They Make Me Run" ("Some Girls", 1978)
"All About You" ("Emotional Rescue", 1980)
"Little T&A" ("Tattoo You", 1981)
"Wanna Hold You" (Undercover, 1983)
"Can't Be Seen" ("Steel Wheels", 1989)
"Slipping Away" ("Steel Wheels", 1989)
"The Worst" ("Voodoo Lounge", 1994)
"Infamy" ("A Bigger Bang", 2005)
Most of the songs were not released as singles, but many of them became part of the band's regular set list on live tours. There is, though, one notable exception: "Happy" was released as a single in the US and peaked at number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It became one of the Stones' most popular songs with Richards on lead vocals.
The only Rolling Stones song sung by bassist Bill Wyman, "In Another Land", was released in 1967 on "Their Satanic Majesties Request". The track is heavily influenced by the psychedelic rock of the late 1960s, with dreamy, surreal lyrics and the use of experimental studio techniques such as phasing. It was released as a single and peaked at number 87 on the US Billboard charts. The song is notable for its bizarre, otherworldly atmosphere, a departure from the band's usual sound.
