1. "People say I'm a drinker, but I'm sober half the time. People say I'm a loser, but I get lucky on the side" is a verse from which of these solo songs by a famous band front man?

Answer: "Evening Gown" by Mick Jagger

"Evening Gown" is a song from Mick Jagger's third solo album "Wandering Spirit"(1993). Mick Jagger also recorded the song with Ron Wood and Jerry Lee Lewis for Lewis' 2006 album of duet, "Last Man Standing". The album was called "Last Man Standing" because Jerry Lee Lewis was the last remaining member of the original 1950s generation of artists from Sun Studios, after Johnny Cash died in 2003.
2. "I don't feel the way I've ever felt. I know, gonna smile and not get worried. I try but it shows. Anyone can make what I have built, and better now. Anyone can find the same white pills..." is the opening verse to which of these songs?

Answer: "Pain" by Jimmy Eat World

"Pain" was the first single released from Jimmy Eat World's 2004 album "Futures". It was the band's second number one hit, on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart, but reached only number 93 on the Hot 100 chart. The song has been featured in different media, including an episode of "Smallville", as well as in the video game "Guitar Hero: Van Halen".
3. Which song with two names in the title contains this verse: "Drove from Paris to the Amsterdam Hilton, talking in our beds for a week. The newspeople said, 'Say, what are you doing in bed?' I said, 'We're only trying to get us some peace'"?

Answer: "The Ballad of John and Yoko" by The Beatles

"The Ballad of John and Yoko" was released as a single in the US and the UK in the spring of 1969, and was later include on the compilation album "Hey Jude: 1969-1970"(1970). It was recorded by only John Lennon and Paul McCartney, because they wrote it and recorded it on a whim, while George Harrison was out of the country and Ringo Starr was working on a movie.

The lyrics were primarily written by Lennon, and detail the story of his relationship with Yoko Ono to that point, including their marriage in Gibraltar and their bed-in in Amsterdam. "The Ballad of John and Yoko" would be The Beatles' last number one hit in the UK.

It also cracked the top ten in the US, despite being banned from radio play for awhile because of the use of the words "Christ" and "crucify" in the lyrics.
4. "When you were born, they looked at you and said, 'What a good girl, what a smart girl, what a pretty girl'. We've got these chains that hang around our necks. People want to strangle us with them, before we take our first breath" is a verse in which song?

Answer: "What a Good Boy" by Barenaked Ladies

"What a Good Boy" was included on Barenaked Ladies' first album "Gordon"(1992). A live version of the song is also on the album "Rock Spectacle"(1996) (the second word of this album's title is pronounced with an exaggerated French-Canadian accent - 'spek-tack').

Despite "What a Good Boy" being popular and well-liked among BNL fans, it did not have much chart success as a single, reaching only number 38 on the Canadian Singles Chart.
5. Which classic rock song starts with these lyrics: "You need coolin', baby I'm not foolin'. I'm gonna send you back to schoolin'. Way down inside, honey, you need it. I'm gonna give you my love..."?

Answer: "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin

"Whole Lotta Love" is the first song on the album "Led Zeppelin II"(1969). It was also the band's first hit single in the US, and was in fact the band's only top ten in the US. "Whole Lotta Love" was named number 75 on Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All-Time list, and number 3 on Q magazine's list of 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks.

In 2008, a slightly updated version was performed at the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, by Jimmy Page and Leona Lewis.
6. "Did you know that when it snows, my eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen" is the pre-chorus to which of these tunes?

Answer: "Kiss From a Rose" by Seal

"Kiss From a Rose" was released as a single in 1994 from Seal's second self-titled album, and reached number 20 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. When it was re-released in 1995 as the theme from the movie "Batman Forever"(1995), it went all the way to number one on the same chart. "Kiss From A Rose" also won two Grammy awards in 1996, Record of the Year and Song of the Year, and Seal also won the Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance with this song.
7. Which of these songs contains the line "A little part of it in everyone, but every junkie's like a setting sun"?

Answer: "The Needle and the Damage Done" by Neil Young

"The Needle and the Damage Done" was written by Neil Young, about several friends he had whose lives were ruined by heroin addiction. One of the main subjects Young had in mind was Danny Whitten, the guitarist in Young's band Crazy Horse. Whitten later died of an overdose.

The song first appeared on the album "Harvest"(1972) and has been covered by many bands and artists including Duran Duran, Our Lady Peace and Dave Matthews.
8. "Give me a whisper and give me a sigh, give me a kiss before you tell me goodbye. Don't you take it so hard now, and please don't take it so bad. I'll still be thinking of you, and the times we had, baby..." This is a verse of song that forms a trilogy, along with "Estranged" and "November Rain"; what song could this be?

Answer: "Don't Cry" by Guns N' Roses

"Don't Cry", featuring Shannon Hoon of the band Blind Melon, was included on two GNR albums: "Use Your Illusion I"(1991), and a slightly different version on "Use Your Illusion II"(1991). A third slightly different version was released only on the CD single. Axl Rose calls "Estranged", "November Rain" and "Don't Cry" the 'Illusions trilogy', because the songs tell different parts of a similar story, based partly on Del James' short story "Without You". "Don't Cry" was Guns N' Roses' fifth top ten hit, peaking at number 10 on Billboard's Hot 100.
9. To which emo pop-rock song do these lyrics belong: "No blinding light, or tunnels to gates of white. Just our hands clasped so tight, waiting for the hint of a spark"?

Answer: "I'll Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie

"I'll Follow You Into the Dark" sounds, melodically, like a fairly upbeat little tune, but the lyrics are a bit morbid - it's about following a loved one into death. The opening lyrics are "Love of mine, someday you will die, but I'll be close behind. I'll follow you into the dark". The song was released as a single in 2006 from the album "Plans"(2005).
10. "Just one guitar, slung way down low, was a one way ticket, only one way to go. So he started rocking, ain't never gonna stop. Gotta keep on rocking, someday gonna make it to the top..." are lyrics from which of these songs?

Answer: "Juke Box Hero" by Foreigner

"Juke Box Hero" was a single released off of the Foreigner album "4"(1981) and reached number 26 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. The song's first verse was supposedly inspired by the true story of a Foreigner fan who couldn't get a ticket to a sold-out show and waited outside the venue for hours in the rain. Versions of "Juke Box Hero" can be downloaded and played on the video games "Rock Band" and "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock".
