Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Rated 47th on my Top 50, Alanis Morrisette sang about black flies in Chardonnay and rain on your wedding day. But which song is it?

Answer: Ironic

Released in 1996 from Alanis' album "Jagged Little Pill", "Ironic" was one of Alanis Morrisette's biggest hits and contains what I believe are some thought-provoking lyrics.
2. Wet Wet Wet's smash hit "Love Is All Around" was at number one for 4 weeks.

Answer: False

It actually remained at Number One for fifteen weeks after its release in 1994. The song also made an appearance on "Four Weddings and A Funeral"
3. Next, Number 45 on my Top 50 is "Mambo Number 5", but who sung this One-Hit Wonder in the 1990s?

Answer: Lou Bega

This song always reminds me of being on a beach in Estartit (Spain, pronounced Es-Tar-Tee) with my Dad and Uncle dancing around a BBQ whilst being approached by a policeman. Happy Days! "Mambo Number 5" was very successful in many foreign countries but was still essentially a One-Hit Wonder in the UK for Lou Bega.
4. We now jump to Number 35, with Frankie Goes To Hollywood singing "Relax". Which radio station banned this song because of sex and drug references?

Answer: BBC Radio One

"Relax" was released in 1983 and caused a huge uproar in the music industry with its sex and drug references. It was later unbanned by Radio One and is considered one of Frankie Goes To Hollywood's best ever songs.
5. Moving onto Number 29 on my Top 50 and we have Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing"; which film did this song appear in?

Answer: Armageddon

This song also appeared in the Billboard Top 100 in its first week of release.
6. Halfway through the Top 50 and at Number 25 we have "Summer of '69" by Bryan Adams. If you listen to the song, you will know that someone quit Bryan's old band - but who was it?

Answer: Jimmy

"Jimmy quit and Jodie got married". "Summer of '69", the 1984 hit from Canadian Rock legend "Bryan Adams" went on to be one of the most recognisable songs in recent history, reaching number five in the Billboard Top 100.
7. At Number 19, we have a song that was a hit for Britney Spears after the year 2000, "My Prerogative". But was she the original singer of this song?

Answer: No

Bobby Brown was actually the original singer of this song, which was released in 1988 from the album "Don't Be Cruel". His version was actually much better than Britney's in my opinion.
8. Jumping to Number 11, we have Spandau Ballet singing about an expensive colour - but which one?

Answer: Gold

"Always believe in your soul" - "Gold" was a bit of a one-hit-wonder for "Spandau Ballet" in 1983, reaching Number Two in the UK singles chart.
9. We're nearing the end of my Top 50 now and at Number Six we have Jack Johnson's "Better Together". Can you tell me which album this song was taken from?

Answer: In Between Dreams

It's the one with the silhouette tree on a yellow background if you wanted to buy it!
10. Finally, at Number One on my All-Time Favourite Song List, we have another Bryan Adams hit, "Everything I Do, I Do It For You". This song was taken from "Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves", but which modern singer has played Robin Hood in the 2007 stage production?

Answer: James Morrison

James got some stick from friends and family for appearing in the tights of Robin Hood, but does not regret his decision. Hope you enjoyed my quiz and have gained some insight into my wacky taste in music!
