On May 4th 1970 the Ohio national guard fired 67 shots at unarmed students on the campus, killing four and injuring nine. Neil Young wrote the lyrics to 'Ohio' after seeing the photos of the incident in 'Life' magazine and the song was recorded and released within four weeks of the shootings.

*Useless Information* According to Neil Young, on the liner notes for his album 'Decade' "David Crosby cried when we finished this take [for the recording]" and Crosby can also be heard at the end of the song saying 'Four, why? Why did they die?' and 'How many more' all ad-libbed and unrehearsed, the record company decided to keep it in rather than 'dub it out'."

Originally the song was entitled 'Paint it Black' without the comma. Keith Richards has stated that the comma was added by 'Decca' the record label who released the track.

Stealers Wheel was a group formed by Joe Egan and Gerry Rafferty (Better known for his solo single 'Baker Street') which went through many different line-ups until they split up in 1975. In about 2007 Tony Williams was contacted by iTunes and agreed to reform the band.

*Useless Information* Allegedly, 'Stuck in the Middle' was inspired by a meeting in a restaurant where the members of their record company and their producers were holding a conversation round a table and completely ignoring Rafferty and Egan.

Yes! it was The Animals with their second single release. 'House of the Rising Sun' was based on an old folk song whose ancestry appears to be lost in the mists of time. The oldest known recording was made in 1934 by Clarence "Tom" Ashley and Gwen Foster, with Ashley claiming that he had heard it from his grandfather.

*Useless Information* 'House of the Rising Sun' was the first 'British Invasion' number one hit in the US that was NOT associated with the Beatles.

John Lennon it was. 'Imagine' was released in the US in 1971 where it peaked at number three on the Billboard charts. It wasn't until 1975 that John decided to release it in the UK where it reached number one.

Essentially a protest song about the 'troubles' in Northern Ireland and, in particular, about a bomb that exploded in Warrington, England in 1993 killing two young boys, one aged three and the other twelve, 'Zombie' reached number three in Ireland, number 14 in the UK, number 20 in the US and became a top 20 hit in many other countries worldwide in 1994.
