Nils was born in Chicago on June 21, 1951 to Swedish/Italian parents.
2. Nils is now best known as a guitarist, but what was his first instrument?

Answer: Accordion

Nils learned to play the accordion at age five and studied jazz and classical music as a child. He switched to the guitar at 15.
3. What was the name of the critically-acclaimed band that Nils fronted in the early 70s?

Answer: Grin

Nils released four albums with Grin between 1971-1974 before releasing his first solo album in 1975. Nils still includes songs he wrote for Grin in his shows today.

Nils appeared on "After The Goldrush", "Tonight's The Night" and "Trans", and was also a member of the band Neil assembled for his "MTV Unplugged" performance.

'The Chase' by Clive Cussler featured Lofgren as a locomotive engineer who helped the protagonist to chase the villain across the American West. Cussler lives close to Lofgren in Arizona, and in addition recorded a song with him, written by both, "What Ever Happened to Muscatel?"
