Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Dirty Mind"

"Dirty Mind" was a groundbreaking R&B album in 1980 led by the funky lead single "Uptown". Prince engineered the album on his own and wrote half the songs while opening for Rick James in 1980.
2. "Controversy"

"Controversy" was the perfect title for Prince's 1981 album. Songs like "Do Me Baby", "Ronnie Talk To Russia", "Private Joy", and the title track didn't hold back talking about sexuality, politics, or controversial topics.
3. "1999"

The first major commercial album from Prince came with the release of "1999". The videos for the title track and "Little Red Corvette" became instant classics with the birth of MTV. The double album was released in the fall of 1982 but reached number nine on the year end list of the Billboard Album Chart of 1983.
4. "Sign o' The Times"

The prolific songwriter and composer released another epic double album in 1987. This was Prince's first album without The Revolution. Led by singles like the title track, "If I Was Your Girlfriend", "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man", and the Sheena Easton duet "U Got The Look", this album is often regarded with "Purple Rain" as one of Prince's two all-time greatest albums.
5. "Batman" Soundtrack

Prince grew up a fan of the 1960s "Batman" tv series so was able to live out a young boy's fantasy of composing the soundtrack to the 1989 blockbuster film starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. The singles, "Batdance" and "Scandalous" each featured snippets of actors in the film.
6. "Diamonds & Pearls"

Prince's thirteenth studio album was also his first with his new backing band, the New Power Generation. Three epic singles from the album were "Gett Off", "Cream", and the title track. Each single received massive radio play and MTV put the videos in heavy rotation.
7. "The Gold Experience"

During this time period, Prince was using the love symbol as his recording name. "The Gold Experience" reached number two on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. The single "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" was released in the winter of 1994 but appeared on the 1995 album.
8. "Emancipation"

Not content with another double album, Prince released a triple album in 1996. "Emancipation" was a celebration of his release from his contract with Warner Brothers. For the first time Prince added a few epic cover songs to his recordings including "I Can't Make You Love Me", "Betcha by Golly Wow", and "One of Us".
9. "Musicology"

Prince's 28th studio album was initially given out to concert goers on his 2004 tour. The album earned Prince two Grammy awards and reached number three on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. In a way, "Musicology" was a comeback as it saw the most commercial success since "Diamonds & Pearls" a decade earlier.
10. "Hit And Run Phase One"

The penultimate album in Prince's discography prior to his passing in 2016, "Hit And Run Phase One" was not a huge commercial success but Prince fans loved his collaborations with a variety of female artist on the release. Judith Hill, Rita Ora, and Lianne La Havas each had duets with Prince and his backing band was a full female crew.
