Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
Woodstock '99 was the thirtieth anniversary of the legendary music festival held in Rome, New York in 1969. The 1999 concert tried to bring back the spirit of love and unity of days past. But the 1999 show was fraught with drama from the opening night on July 22nd, 1999. Brutal heat, major rain, overpriced food and water, poor sanitation, vandalism, sexual harassment, rape, and even deaths marred the epic four day concert.
On the final night, California rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers closed the show with a setlist of their biggest hits up until 1999. The band opened with three big hits, 'Around The World", "Give It Away", and "Scar Tissue". Midway through the set "Suck My Kiss", "Right On Time", and a surprise cover of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" by guitarist John Frusciante were special highlights in the show. Prior to the encore, the Chili Peppers played three of their classics, "Me & My Friends", "Under The Bridge", and their current hit in 1999 "Californication".
As the band took a brief break for the encore, the crowd got out of control. Gates were broken, side stages were destroyed, fires erupted all over the venue, and police couldn't control the mob mentality. The band came back for "Sir Psycho Sexy" and a fitting cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Fire", the first time the band played the song live since 1991.
The wrong answers "Dani California", "Can't Stop", and "By The Way" were all major hits released in 2002, three years after Woodstock '99. Linkin Park and Papa Roach recorded the other two incorrect answers.
