Van Morrison is from Northern Ireland. He wrote "Brown Eyed Girl", then recorded it in March, 1967. Many consider this piece to be his signature song. It spent sixteen weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, getting as high as Number Ten there.
2. "Dancing in the Dark"

American artist Bruce Springsteen wrote "Dancing in the Dark" for his album "Born in the USA". John Landau, his producer on that album, strongly suggested that the album needed a single, so Springsteen wrote it in a hotel room in one night. The single charted in the top ten in nine countries, including the US where it hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart in May, 1984 at Number 36.
It spent the four weeks following at Number 2. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame also placed the song on their list of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
3. "Burnin' for You"

"Burning' for You" was released in 1981. It was written by guitarist Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser and rock critic songwriter Richard Meltzer. Blue Öyster Cult's typical lead singer was Eric Bloom, but for this song, Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser sang the lead vocals.
The song appeared on the album "Fire of Unknown Origin", and reached Number One on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart after eight weeks on that chart. Once it dropped from Number One, the song stayed on that chart for a total of twenty-three weeks. "Burning' for You" also peaked at Number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
4. "Comfortably Numb"

"Comfortably Numb" is one of Pink Floyd's most recognizable songs. The music was written by the group's lead guitarist David Gilmour, and the lyrics were written by the group's bass guitarist Roger Waters. The song appears on their 1979 album "The Wall", with a shorter version released as a single in 1980. Waters wrote the lyrics of "Comfortably Numb" based on an actual experience he had while on tour in Philadelphia.
There, he was experiencing severe stomach cramps, and was injected with a powerful muscle relaxant.
This stopped the cramps, but left him feeling numb as he performed that evening. The song is notable for two highly regarded guitar solos by Gilmour.
5. "Have You Ever Seen the Rain"

John Fogerty, lead singer of Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), wrote this song. "Who'll Stop the Rain" was released as a single in 1971 from CCR's 1970 album "Pendulum". The single reached Number One on the Canadian music charts. It reached Number Eight on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Many artists have covered this song over the years, including Boney M, Bonnie Tyler, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Rod Stewart, and Willie Nelson (with his daughter Pamela).
6. "Immigrant Song"

"Immigrant Song" was first released as a single in 1970 from the album "Led Zeppelin III". It was written by band members Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. They wrote the song when Led Zeppelin was on tour in Iceland. The opening lyrics, "We come from the land of the ice and snow, From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow" reflect their experiences travelling there. "Immigrant Song" reached Number Sixteen on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts.
7. "Mama Can't Buy You Love"

"Mama Can't Buy You Love" was written by LeRoy Bell and Casey James. Elton John recorded it and released it as a single from from the album "The Thom Bell Sessions" in 1979. It landed on the charts where it reached as high as Number Nine on the Billboard Hot 100 chart the year it was released.
This was Elton John's first Top Ten hit since 1976. "Mama Can't Buy You Love" also reached Number One on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart.

Weezer is an American rock band that came together in Los Angeles in 1992. They released their self-titled debut album in 1993. The song "My Name is Jonas" was released as a single from that album. The song was written by band members Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, and Jason Cropper. Cropper left the band before the song was released, so this is his only Weezer song-writing credit.

The Scorpions are a hard rock band from Germany. "Rock You Like a Hurricane" was written by Klaus Meine, Herman Rarebell, Rudolf Schenker, all band members of The Scorpions. The song was released from their ninth studio album, "Love at First Sting" in 1984.
The song reached Number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. VH1 was at one time a music video television channel, similar to MTV. They placed "Rock You Like a Hurricane" at Number 31 on their list of "40 Greatest Metal Songs" in 2096, at Number 18 on their list of greatest hard rock songs in 2009, and at Number Four on their list of best riffs of the 1980s in 2010.
10. "Daydream Believer"
Answer: The Monkees
"Daydream Believer" was written by Kingston Trio member John Stewart shortly before that group disbanded in 1967. The song was recorded by The Monkees. When it was released by that group in October, 1967, the song reached Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 chart where it stayed for four weeks. Canadian performer Anne Murray released the song in 1979 when it once again reached the US music charts.
It reached Number Three on the US Country Singles chart and Number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for Murray.
