Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

Fernande Olivier (1881-1966) was Picasso's first girlfriend, model, and muse. He painted many portraits of her and even modeled one of the figures in "Demoiselles d' Avignon" after her.

Eva Guel (real name Marcelle Humbert, 1885-1915) was a French choreographer Picasso met while in a relationship with Fernande Olivier. She became his muse and lover, but died of tuberculosis at a very young age. While taking care of her during her illness, Picasso managed to have an affair with Gaby Lespinasse.

Shortly after Guel's death and the end of his relationship with Gaby Lespinasse, Picasso had a brief relationship with a 20-year-old model named Paquerette, real name Emilienne Geslot, 1896-1934.

Olga Khokhlova (1891-1955) was a Russian ballet dancer and Pablo Picasso's first wife. Together they had a son, Paulo. Even though Picasso entered an affair with Marie-Therese Walter while they were married, she did not divorce him and remained separated until her death.

In 1927, while Picasso was still living with Olga Khoklova and their son, he met a 17-year-old named Marie-Therese Walter (1909-1977). Marie-Therese became the mother of his first daughter, Maya. She was in a relationship with Picasso until he met Dora Maar in 1936.

Dora Maar (Henriette Theodora Markovitch, 1907-1997) was a French-Croatian surrealist painter, photographer, and poet. Picasso's most famous work of her is "The Portrait of Dora Maar."

Francoise Gilot (1921-2023) met Picasso when she was 22 and he was 62. Still married, but separated from Olga Khokhlova, Picasso and her became romantically involved and had two children, Claude and Paloma. Gilot left Picasso and moved to the US where she married famous polio vaccine founder Jonas Salk.

Jacqueline Roque (1926-1986) was Picasso's second and last wife. They met when she was 34 and he was 79. She became his exclusive muse in the last years of his life, during which time he painted more than 70 paintings of her, mostly portraits. Several years after Picasso's death, Roque committed suicide in the French Riviera chateau she shared with him while they were married.

Maya (full name María de la Concepción "Maya" Widmaier-Picasso, 1935-2022) was Picasso's first daughter from his relationship with Marie-Therese Walter. Paloma Picasso (b. 1949) is Picasso's second daughter from his relationship with Francoise Gillot.

Pablo Picasso had met Alice B. Toklas and Brigitte Bardot, but there is no evidence of a relationship with them. Camille Claudel was the lover and muse of Auguste Rodin. Dolores Ibarruri (Pasionaria) was a legendary Spanish communist revolutionary of the Spanish Civil War. Melina Mercouri was a Greek actress and Georgia O'Keeffe was an American painter.
