Answer: C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis (1898 to 1963) wrote "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" which was the start of the "Chronicles of Narnia" series of books. His death was almost overlooked as he died on the same day that John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas.

The online blog of the National Churchill Museum was asked if there were any quotes about Churchill and tea. There it was suggested that his friend's quote reflected Churchill's feelings on the subject as he much preferred a glass of Scotch and Soda.

G.K. Chesterton and John Buchan were contemporaries of Belloc, and Basil Temple Blackwood was an illustrator of some of his books.
