The Cardinals selected Matt Leinart from the University of Southern California(USC) with the 10th pick in the 2006 draft. They thought they finally had their QB who could lead the team to glory. Sadly, Leinart was bitten by the injury bug in 2007 and lost his starting spot, to Hall of Famer Kurt Warner, which he never got back. Leinart never did live up to expectations and after leaving Arizona for Houston in 2010, Leinart played in only 4 games between the Texans and Oakland Raiders before retiring at the end of the 2012 season.

The Bears were able to overcome a 23 point deficit by scoring 2 defensive touchdowns before Hall of Famer Devin Hester scored on a 82 yard punt return. It was the first time in NFL history a team was able to overcome a 20 point deficit to win without scoring an offensive touchdown.

This game proved to be the beginning of the end to Dennis Green's tenure as Cardinals coach, especially after the postgame press conference meltdown ("They were who we thought they were!"). Thanks to that, this game is known as the "Monday Night Meltdown".

"Fitz" had an incredible playoff season scoring 7 touchdowns and setting a new playoff record. None was bigger than the 64 yard touchdown pass he caught late in the 4th quarter to give the Cardinals the lead in the Super Bowl 23-20. Unfortunately, an equally fantastic catch by Santonio Holmes put the Steelers over the top (they won 27-23).

The Steelers led 20-7 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

In a thrilling game that is still being talked about, the Cardinals took a 24-10 halftime lead, then had a 31-10 3rd quarter lead, but the Packers fought back. In a back and forth 2nd half the game ended 45-45 in regulation. The Packers won the toss and got the ball on their 20. On the 2nd play of the drive, cornerback Michael Adams on a corner blitz hit Rogers, forcing a fumble which went right into Karlos Dansby's arms.

He ran unopposed into the endzone to win the game for the Big Red.

Matt Leinart was the Cards 1st round pick in 2006 and was supposed to be the QB of the future. However, injuries and the inability to fit into Ken Whisenhunt's offensive scheme, Leinart was thought to be Warner's heir apparent but in a stunning move he was cut in pre season. Whisenhunt brought in Anderson from Cleveland and rookies Max Hall and John Skelton. None were successful and the Cards finished the 2009 season 5-11.

Bruce Arians led the Indianapolis Colts to the playoffs in the 2012 serving as interim head coach while head coach Chuck Pagano was being treated for cancer. Arians went on to lead the Cardinals to a 49-28-1 record which included 2 playoff appearances and a division title in 2015 (which was a franchise best 13-3 record).
