Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Super Bowl XLV: 2011

Answer: Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers won his first championship with a 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rodgers, completing 24 of 39 passes for 304 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions, was named the game's MVP.
2. Super Bowl XLVI: 2012

Answer: New York Giants

Winning the game's MVP award, Eli Manning became the first Giants quarterback to do so twice (his first was in SB XLII in 2008). He was the second Giants QB to win two NFL championship games - the first was Ed Danowski in 1934 and 1938. The Giants beat Tom Brady's Patriots 21-17.

It was the second time in five seasons that the Giants had beaten the Patriots in the big game (the first was in SB XLII in 2008).
3. Super Bowl XLVII: 2013

Answer: Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens bested the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in a true battle of the brothers. The head coaches of each team were John Harbaugh (Ravens) and Jim Harbaugh (49ers). It was the first time brothers had faced off with each other in that manner. Jim's son Jay was also on his uncle's staff in Baltimore. Joe Flacco was the game's MVP.
4. Super Bowl XLVIII: 2014

Answer: Seattle Seahawks

Seattle dominated the Denver Broncos in this game. It was 36-0 in the third quarter before the Broncos finally scored. The final score was 43-8. Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith was named the game's MVP. Smith returned an interception 69 yards for a touchdown, recovered a fumble and made nine tackles.
5. Super Bowl XLIX: 2015

Answer: New England Patriots

The Patriots beat the defending champion Seahawks 28-24 after securing an interception at the goal line in the game's final seconds. Rather than handing the ball off to their beast of a running back, Marshawn Lynch, the team chose to throw a pass, which was picked off. Tom Brady won the MVP for the third time in his career his previous two were SB XXXVI in 2002 and SB XXXVIII in 2004). Brady completed 37 of 50 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns, but also tossed two interceptions.

His 37 completions were a then-record for the game.
6. Super Bowl 50: 2016

Answer: Denver Broncos

For the second time in three years the Broncos were in the Super Bowl. This would be the final game of Peyton Manning's career. After setting the career passing yards record in the regular season, he missed a portion of the season, returning for the playoffs.

The Broncos bested the heavily favored Carolina Panthers 24-10. Von Miller, a linebacker, was named the game's MVP. This was the first Super Bowl not to use roman numerals in it's official logo.
7. Super Bowl LI: 2017

Answer: New England Patriots

The Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28, in the first overtime game in Super Bowl history. Tom Brady was named the game's MVP. Brady's 43 completed passes, 62 pass attempts, and 466 passing yards were all Super Bowl records. It was Brady's 4th MVP award in the game. Down 28-3 in the third quarter, the Patriots scored 25 consecutive points to tie the game in the final seconds of regulation.
8. Super Bowl LII: 2018

Answer: Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles bested the defending champion New England Patriots 41-33. With the Eagles starting quarterback out injured, Nick Foles stepped up and lead them through the playoffs, and into an MVP award in the Super Bowl. Foles completed 28 of 43 pass attempts for 373 yards and three touchdowns with one interception, and also caught a one-yard touchdown pass on a trick play.

The trick play was similar to one the Patriots had tried earlier in the game, with Tom Brady dropping the pass.
9. Super Bowl LIII: 2019

Answer: New England Patriots

Tied 3-3 entering the fourth quarter, the Patriots scored the game's final 10 points to win the lowest scoring Super Bowl of all time up to that point. Julian Edelman was named the game's MVP. He caught 10 passes for 141 yards.
10. Super Bowl LIV: 2020

Answer: Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes lead his Chiefs to the championship with a 31-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Kansas City scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Mahomes was named the MVP.
