NFL Super Bowl Trivia Questions

1. The NFL really got the message at the 1992 halftime show "Winter Magic" in Minneapolis, when the show caused the CBS network to lose million of viewers when they switched channels, to watch which FOX-TV show?

From Quiz
History of Super Bowl Halftime Shows

Answer: In Living Color

Despite having a genuine musical talent in Gloria Estefan in the show, the CBS network lost millions of viewers when they switched over to Fox to watch "In Living Color". Viewers who switched away from the game had the misfortune of missing out on entertainment such as dancing snowflakes, an R&B inflatable "Frosty the Snowman", and Olympic ice skaters Dorothy Hamill and Brian Boitano. The counter-programming strategy employed by the other networks worked, and it convinced the NFL to recruit huge stars for future halftime shows. Oh, and the game? The Washington Redskins beat the Buffalo Bills 37-24.

2. The Chicago Bears returned to the play-offs in 1986 as the defending Super Bowl champions only to lose in the divisional round. Who did the Bears lose to?

17. When the Buffalo Bills lost four Super Bowls in a row from 1991 to 1994, which event below did not happen to someone on the team?

From Quiz Super Bowl Heroes & Goats

Answer: Don Beebe fumbled while running for a TD because he started celebrating too early

Bills' coach Marv Levy was fined by the league when he missed a mandatory press conference before Super Bowl XXV, the team's first appearance in the game. After narrowly losing that game, the Bills had a particularly bad outing the following year, losing 37-24 to the Redskins in a contest far more one-sided than the score indicates. Star running back Thurman Thomas couldn't find his helmet at the start of the game, missing the Bills' first two plays (the Redskins had the ball first; Thomas had much extra time in which he could have found his helmet). Late in the first half, with the Bills trailing 17-0, they drove to the Redskins' 20. Buffalo quarterback Jim Kelly was then sacked at the 28, and on the next play, he threw an incomplete pass to Andre Reed, who thought he was interfered with. Reed threw his helmet, resulting in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and forcing the Bills out of field goal range. Don Beebe WAS involved in a play in which a sure touchdown turned into a fumble, but was the hero, not the goat. In Super Bowl XXVII, with the Bills trailing the Cowboys 52-17, quarterback Frank Reich - starter Jim Kelly had been injured - fumbled and the Cowboys' Leon Lett picked the ball up and was running unimpeded toward the end zone, 65 yards away. About ten yards from scoring, Lett slowed down and raised the ball in the air. The Bills' Don Beebe caught up with him from behind, swatted the ball from his hand, and it rolled through the end zone for a touchback, giving Buffalo the ball back.

The Dallas Cowboys had trounced the Buffalo Bills 52-17. Jackson initially had a stoic demeanor, but then he tossed his aviator sunglasses into the audience, did his spin move and livened up the halftime show from the conservative and conventional marching bands of the past.
