1. Two players shared a record for playing their entire 20-season career with only one team. One player was Jackie Slater of the Rams. Who tied his record when he retired after the 2002 season?

Answer: Darrell Green

Slater played with the Rams in Los Angeles, then made the move with the team to St. Louis in 1995. Green was all Washington Redskin from 1983-2002.
2. Which of the following led the league eight times in rushing yardage?

Answer: Jim Brown

The others won four rushing titles in their careers. The amazing Jim Brown of the Cleveland Browns played for only nine seasons. He led the league every season except for one in 1962. Brown fought off injuries in that season. His season-high was 1863 yards rushed in 1963. Jim retired in 1965.
3. Who was the first special teams player to return 70 punts in one season?

Answer: Danny Reece

One might figure that it was a team with a good defense, and in 1979, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had their first season over .500. Although Reece returned 70 punts, his average return was only 6.2 yards, with his longest return of 17.
4. Who was the first NFL player in history to score 175 points in one season?

Answer: Paul Hornung

Hornung was a Green Bay Packer running back in 1960 when he set this amazing record of 176. He scored 15 touchdowns, 41 PATs, and 15 field goals in the season. In 2006, LaDainian Tomlinson of the Chargers broke Paul's record by scoring 31 touchdowns and 186 points.
5. Which running back set a record for having six 200-yard rushing games in his career?

Answer: O.J. Simpson

O.J. played for nine seasons with the Buffalo Bills from 1969-1977, then spent his final two seasons with the 49ers. Leading the NFL in rushing four times, he was the first player to gain 2000 yards in a season in 1973.
6. Which quarterback set an unfortunate record by being the first in history to fumble the ball 20 times in a season?

Answer: Tony Banks

Banks was a rookie St. Louis Ram in 1996 when he coughed it up 21 times in the season. This reflected on the Rams' 6-10 season record. New York Giant Kerry Collins broke Tony's record in 2001 with 23 fumbles, and Daunte Culpepper of the Vikings tied Collins' record in 2002.
7. Which of the following speedsters rushed for over 1000 yards in a season, 11 times in his career?

Answer: Emmitt Smith

In 11 consecutive seasons, the Dallas Cowboy running ran for over 1000 yards from 1991-2001. Emmitt led the league four times in rushing, and three times with the most touchdowns. He spent his final two seasons as an Arizona Cardinal in 2003 and 2004.
8. Which defensive back retired with a record-setting 81 career interceptions?

Answer: Paul Krause

Krause also played wide receiver, but in limited duty. He played for the Redskins from 1964-1967, then with the Vikings from 1968-1979. Paul's season-high was as a rookie, when he picked off 12 passes in the season.
9. Devin Hester of the Bears ran back four punts for touchdowns in 2007. He was not the first to run four back in a season. Whose record did Hester tie?

Answer: Jack Christiansen

Christiansen was a rookie Detroit Lion in 1951 when he ran back 18 punts for a 19.1 yard average, with four going into the endzone. 10. Who was the first player in history to record 200 sacks in their career?

Answer: Bruce Smith

Smith retired with exactly 200.0 sacks. He was a Buffalo Bill from 1985-1999, then a Redskin from 2000-2003. In 1990, Bruce had 19 sacks coupled with his 121 tackles in the season. The defensive end was an 11-time Pro Bowler.
