Phoebe was upset that Chuck was no longer with Tara and that she had married Phil. While Phil and Tara went on their honeymoon, Phoebe took care of their child, Phillip Charlie Brent. One day, she went driving and Phillip was in the passenger seat. She got into a car accident, as a result of her being drunk, and this caused Phil and Tara to cut their honeymoon short. Due to this accident, Phoebe's driver's license was temporarily revoked.

In Kitty's last days, she was around Linc and Myrtle, who came to love her as a daughter. Kitty died while in Linc's arms.

Anne spoke to Elizabeth's picture and was in denial that her daughter was dead. Anne slipped into a deep depression and attempted suicide with sleeping pills. Right after this suicide attempt, Anne had a complete breakdown and Paul had her committed to Oak Haven.

Mark Dalton had just come to Pine Valley and was a Professor of music at Pine Valley University. He and Erica started to date and Erica told Mona about Mark. Mona found out that Mark was Maureen Dalton's son with her ex-husband, Eric Kane. Maureen was also revealed to have been Eric Kane's secretary and his secret lover while Mona was married to him. Mona told Erica who Mark really was and Erica did not believe it, at first, but accepted the fact that she temporarily dated her half-brother.

Tom Cudahy had just come to Pine Valley and opened up a restaurant that he named The Goalpost. Erica took a liking to Tom and he returned the favor by hiring her to be a hostess at The Goalpost. Erica and Brooke immediately competed to win Tom's affections and Tom chose Erica, at first, but eventually got with Brooke.

Donna decided to go to Chicago and confess, to her parents, that she was a prostitute. Erica tried to catch Chuck's eye but he only had eyes for Donna. Erica humiliated Donna, one night, when Chuck and Donna had dinner at The Chateau. Erica was working, that night, and a man approached Erica and let her know he was one of Donna's clients while she was a hooker. Erica took the man, to Chuck and Donna's table, and Donna revealed he was a client of hers and she ran out of the restaurant, humiliated by Erica. Erica thought this would get Chuck to love her but he still only had feelings for Donna. Erica continued to cause trouble, for Chuck, when she accidentally told his cousin, Brooke, that Chuck was not little Phillip's biological father but that Phil Brent was.
