Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who finds Gino in the cadaver drawers in the hospital morgue?

Answer: Detective Read

Gino pounds on the inside of the morgue drawer he's trapped inside, screaming to get out, while Read searches the hospital. Read manages to spot Whitely, the man from Gino's sketch, as he departs the building, but he loses him in the crowd on the way to the entrance.

Heading back in the direction Whitely came from, Read makes his way down the stairwell and into the morgue, finding his way to the cadaver storage drawers and hearing the kicking inside. Sure enough, it's where he finds his boyfriend, bound but still alive.
2. At home, Gino and Patrick awaken to the discovery that they may have which of these?

Answer: A flea problem

The morning after his escape from the morgue, Gino wakes up to find that he and Read seem to have an apartment infested with fleas; he itches all over. He blames Read; it couldn't come from anywhere else. It doesn't help, either, that New York City is facing a heatwave.

At the 'Native' office, Gino and Adam argue over the article Adam has ghostwritten about the fire at the Ascension Bar since he not only used it to write about the event, but to quote himself. Gino suggests another tactic, even though Adam worries they're preaching to empty seats.

Gino heads out to the Neptune Baths. His new aim is to speak to Kathy Pizzazz, the venue's singer.
3. Does Kathy Pizzazz willingly give Gino a quote for the paper?

Answer: Yes

Gino finds Kathy at the bathhouse leading an audition for a new act and when he heads in to meet with her, she gives him a short amount of time, insisting that speaking to the press is one of the things she doesn't tend to do. Gino threatens her, however, saying that one of the more recent victims of the Mai Tai Killer was last seen at the Neptune Baths, and her lack of care towards the community is of particular note if she doesn't concede to a few questions. Missing seats and bad press will kill her business and he knows it.

When Kathy finally lets him sit with her, she reveals that she was the grand marshal of the 1971 Pride Parade. She's toiled for the community for years. All Gino wants is an interview with her, anything on the record. She doesn't think it'll help though; a change is happening. Nonetheless, and she says this on-record, she is a concerned business-owner who wants the disappearances investigated. The police should do something.
4. The body of Hans Henkes is found, dead, in which location?

Answer: His bed

Read is called to a crime scene in the 9th Precinct and heads up to the fifth floor in the awful heat to find a man being escorted out in handcuffs. They enter the apartment to the awful smell of death and there, in the bed, is the body of Hans Henkes, one of the performers of the city's recent underground parties. Hans' body is covered in awful sores; he's been dead for a few days. The forensic analyst onsite says that she'll need to perform a full autopsy to identify what's happening with the victim's skin as it may be hiding the true cause of death, currently assumed to be blunt force trauma.

In the meantime, Read tells Marzara that the man they've taken into custody, Daniel, is unlikely to be the perpetrator as he knows the guy. As Marzara departs, Read picks up the phone on the nearby table and makes a call.
5. Theo heads to Sam's apartment when he leaves the hospital. What ends up happening when he does?

Answer: He leaves his keys behind

Theo heads back to Sam's apartment after his long night at the hospital and tensions quickly run high with Sam trying to be controlling the minute he steps in. Theo complains that there's a lot of dark and weird stuff happening in the city and Sam's name keeps getting linked to it all. He's not only getting more controlling, but his needs keep getting darker and darker. Theo explains that he wants something more simple and he finally has a chance at that with someone else. Sam is scaring him, and he worries that it could lead to something dangerous. Sam threatens that it'll mean the studio will go, the work will disappear too, but Theo tosses his keys to the apartment aside and leaves.

At the paper, Gino prepares another issue, this one featuring an obituary for Hans Henkes, while Adam comments on the heatwave and the likelihood of the power grid giving up. The heat and the circumstances seem to be getting to Gino who, realizing the severity of the situation, yells that every gay man in New York should be afraid because when they're dead, it'll be too late. The power flickers in the office as Adam departs.
6. Detective Read reveals which of these facts to his boss before the power failure?

Answer: That he's gay

Adam heads home in the heat unaware that he's being watched from a street-side vehicle. Rounding the corner to his front stoop, he finds Theo waiting for him, eager to tell him that he's broken up with Sam. Theo apologizes for his arrogance; he didn't want to hear the truth about Sam. He can't stop thinking of Adam, so he showed up. Adam invites him in for some water and to get out of the heat, but the minute they walk into the apartment, they head to the bedroom.

Adam and Theo reawaken later to find the sun still shining. Theo redresses and lets Adam know he has to head out. After he leaves, Adam plays his answering machine to find a recording of someone breathing heavily into the phone. Of course, that's when the power goes out. As soon as Adam loses the lights, the phone rings. When he picks up it turns out to be Morris, inviting him out to the warehouse for a massive blackout party.

At the precinct, Marzara brings Read into his office to let him know that the information of their cases keeps getting leaked to Gino and the "Native". Marzara believes Read may have something to do with it, and he does, but Read insists that he wears his badge with honour even though, as he reveals to his boss, he's a gay police officer. As he reveals this, however, the lights go out at the station.
7. Who visits Gino at his apartment before he loses power?

Answer: Barbara

Gino opens his door to find Barbara outside his apartment and this time she's found something new. As she lets herself in, Gino asks why she's doing this, but she claims it's because he shouldn't have to go through what she did. It's been made clear to her that she doesn't really know who Patrick is, but he can be very susceptible. She reveals the leather mask she claims to have found moments before the power goes out. She reiterates that she's unravelling a bit, but she sees a lot of herself in Gino. All she needs Gino to do is ask Patrick to tell him the truth.

At the station, the phones start ringing off the hook due to the power outage. When Read gets to his desk, he picks up his phone and it turns out to be the Mai Tai Killer. On the other end of the line, Whitely notes that with no street lamps, he doesn't need to go to the bars to kill again; he can murder in the open. He may never feel so free again. Whitely asks Read if he's afraid of getting caught, especially since he's seen him at parties recently.

Read asks the killer why he does it, and Whitely responds that no one remembers the men he kills until they die, so it's his way of honouring them. He wishes Read good luck in finding him in the dark park this evening. Central Park is Read's next destination, naturally.
8. In Central Park, Detective Read is attacked by who of these?

Answer: Big Daddy

Adam leaves home, heading out into the street in the dark, when Sam pulls up in his vehicle and invites him in for a ride. Against better judgment, Adam sits in the back seat next to Theo's ex and though Adam says that he doesn't want to get involved in the strife between Sam and Theo, Sam's interested in his own best interests, and that means paying Adam off to put things right. The car ride isn't a long one. As Adam, Sam lets him know that Theo will, as he always does, end up getting bored and crawling back to him.

Read heads to Central Park and locates the phone booth he was called from. The phone is still off the hook. Most surprising, however, is when Big Daddy appears wielding a flail. He takes a swing as Read races into the brush and calls for backup. Read fires a shot into the darkness, missing his intended victim, before his back-up arrives. No one else sees the figure.

Elsewhere in the park, Whitely makes another phone call.
9. Gino reminds Patrick that he only ever seems to tell the truth under which circumstances?

Answer: When he's about to get caught

Daniel makes his way to the blackout warehouse party to find the festivities well underway by candlelight and as he screams at the people inside the building, they cut the music and hear him out. They find out that Hans has passed away and the cops were called as Adam arrives, letting them know that gay men are getting picked off one by one at the hands of a serial killer, but there's something bigger at play, killing others in inexplicable ways. No one seems to want to hear the truth. Adam recommends that they should meet up in an organized fashion, getting together once a week until they know what's going on.

Patrick, meanwhile, gets home to find Gino up and waiting for him in the dark. Patrick reveals that he came out to his boss, but his relief is dashed when Gino reveals the leather mask that Barbara brought by. Gino insists that Patrick tell him everything or, else, leave, and he decides to do so, admitting that he's been with other guys a lot, even recently. He doesn't know them, but it's never in their apartment. Patrick knows that he wants and needs to be with Gino-- the other compulsion isn't as important-- but Gino knows that Patrick wants the lie. The truth is that he only tells people the actual truth when he's about to get caught, and that's just shame.

As Gino goes off on Patrick, he starts to lose his breath and collapses to the floor.
10. Whitely is followed by two men into the elevator of his building. What's hidden in his bag?

Answer: A human head

Gino awakens in the hospital to find Patrick by his bedside moments before the doctor comes in and explains his symptoms. The recent fever and a swelling of lymph nodes seems to be leading to a diagnosis of cat scratch fever, of all things. He'll be started on a regimen of antibiotics.

In Central Park, Daniel and Morris leave the warehouse party and head home only to stumble upon Whitely in the woods there, decapitating a young man under the cover of darkness. They realize it may be the man who killed Hans and they choose to follow him back into a part of the city that has its power back. Following him into his apartment building, they get into the same elevator and head up only for the power to cut once again, trapping the three of them midway between floors. As Whitely lights matches to give the trio some light, they start to smell what's in his bag. As the lights flicker back on, he brandishes a knife.
