Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In addition to operating the Neptune Baths, Kathy owns which of these establishments?

Answer: Psychic shop

At the Neptune Baths, Kathy watches as her recent hire rehearses before the evening rush comes in, stopping him when he hits a note just wrong. She needs him to be a perfect replica of her and not a rough impersonation. The problem is that the new business isn't going quite well and she constantly has her hands full. Kathy gets a phone call at the bar and rushes over to take it. It's urgent and unexpected.

Fran, out buying groceries, spots a psychic shop during her errands and stops by to find that the place is open. Inside is Kathy-- apparently both of her psychics quit on her this week. Kathy's lucky though; Fran came in because of the help wanted sign out front.
2. Fran goes looking for a job. Does Kathy give her one?

Answer: Yes

Kathy's grateful that Fran's interested in working the night shift at the psychic shop as all it takes for customers to show up is to get them some drink-- they'll show up looking to find out about their future en masse. Since there's been a number of disappearances as of late, customers have been especially curious about their fates. Kathy gives Fran a deck of tarot cards, instructions, and an application and says that if she has a good enough working knowledge of the cards, she can start the next night. The only rule is that it's all entertainment, and the guests need to leave feeling good. No bad news.

That evening, Fran looks over the cards and calls a friend who insists it's a good idea. After all, she can't live off freelancing at the paper. While her friend scratches at the rash spreading on her back, they joke about a free reading.

Fran has trouble sleeping that night, getting up and looking out the window to see a man in a leather outfit watching from the apartment across the way.
3. Hannah and Adam both receive a tarot reading, but they each manage to draw which card?

Answer: Death

Dr. Wells and Adam walk through New York enjoying a light dinner and celebrating Hannah's healthy pregnancy, contemplating the possible gender of their child as they come across the psychic shop. They curiously head inside to find Fran, who both of them have worked with, at the table there. Despite the fact that Adam knows her from 'The Native' and Hannah bounced her theories off her, Fran manages to convince the pair to take a seat-- one card, one chance to tell them something about the baby.

After Fran shuffles the deck she has Hannah cut it and she begins the reading. The first card is the Queen of Pentacles while the second is the Ten of Swords; she doesn't have much to say about either. The third card, however, is the Empress, which is connected to feminine energy. Perhaps, she says, she'll have a daughter.

Fran convinces Adam to draw cut the deck as well and he asks after his missing friend. His three cards are more dire, starting with the Death card.

Fran performs one last reading for Hannah, but she somehow manages to draw three Death cards in a row. It's of immense concern. There should be only one in the deck to begin.
4. Where is Barbara when she collapses?

Answer: At her lawyer's

Heading to the lawyers' office, Barbara and Patrick reunite with the moderation of their divorce attorneys. Barbara admits to not feeling well; she comes back from the washroom stating that she hasn't been able to keep food down for a fair bit of time possibly due to food poisoning.

As Patrick signs his side of the paperwork, Barbara asks their lawyers to leave for a moment so the two of them can talk, and it's then that she admits she feels like they're making a terrible mistake. She acknowledges that they may not do the normal thing husband and wives do, but they may be throwing everything away. Patrick, however, knows they don't have a marriage anymore. He can't keep that up.

Barbara signs on the dotted line. As she admits, she still wants him to be happy. Moments later, however, she collapses on the floor.
5. Why does Patrick need to visit Barbara's apartment?

Answer: To take out her new puppy

Barbara awakens in a hospital bed with Patrick by her side and she apologizes, not necessarily because she collapsed but because she needs a favour. After Patrick left, she finally committed and bought a new dog-- a papillon-- and it probably needs to be taken out for a walk since she's been away from the house all day. Patrick graciously decides to help out.

When he arrives at Barbara's he finds the dog waiting in the dark; the lights don't seem to turn on. The dog appears to be barking, but not at Patrick as he comes in the door. Instead, it's paying close attention to a closet. Patrick draws his gun as he approaches and, to his surprise, Big Daddy is inside. The hulking man knocks him back, gets the upper hand, and pins him to the ground.
6. Getting a test from her doctor, Hannah discovers she suffers from which odd health concern?

Answer: Low red blood cell count

Adam stops by the doctor's office to be present for Hannah's appointment, checking in on the health of the baby and the progress of the pregnancy. It's mostly good news, but there's also a blood panel to look into. The doctor is a bit concerned with a low red cell count; it's nothing to get alarmed about, but it could be a slight case of anemia. Hannah later explains to Adam that after the fire at the barn, all of the samples she took from the victims also had low red blood cell counts. It's hard to understand the meaning behind it.

Patrick is eventually able to contact his colleagues and bring in backup, explaining that the man (who he earlier shot in Central Park) managed to break into Barbara's place and wait for him to show up out of sheer luck. The reporting detective asks if it was a lover's tryst and Patrick is caught off-guard-- after all, the man attacked him.

Later, when Patrick brings Barbara home, they survey the damage and Barbara commits to staying home instead of heading to a motel or, worse, her sister's. Since she has police stationed outside, she feels safer in her own space than anywhere else.
7. Theo and Adam have a dual tarot reading, but which of them fears the results of the cards?

Answer: Adam

Adam and Theo walk through New York discussing Hannah's tests and the concerning low red blood cell count but the talk is derailed when Theo brings Adam back to the psychic shop with the intention of getting him a less stressful experience. Though Adam rejects the idea, Theo drags him in, excited to see the reading in action.

Fran allows another reading-- it's why she's there-- but she admits that she never intended for anything to happen the previous time. There should never have been as many Death cards as there were. Fortunately, she says, she's also had many customers since Adam and Hannah, so she's much more proficient at telling their fate.

Fran holds a dual-reading, having both Adam and Theo cut the deck once. To their surprise though, and their worry, they draw three peculiar cards in order: Judgment, The Devil, and...Death. Fran makes light of the cards as she goes along, but Adam has a vision and believes Fran to be foreseeing his death. He runs from the building, afraid, and Theo chases him out.
8. When Gino draws his tarot cards, he's met by which of these figures in a vision?

Answer: The Angel of Death

Adam returns to 'The Native' just as Gino returns from the hospital and he lets his boss know that Fran, who's been freelancing for the paper, has also been moonlighting at the psychic shop, giving weird tarot readings. Adam admits that the readings have been getting under his skin though Gino believes it's a scam.

It doesn't stop Gino from heading to the shop, however, and when he arrives it's not only Fran at the table, but Kathy as well. Kathy has Fran take her lunch as she forces Gino to sit for a reading, but as she draws his cards, they come up as the same that Adam had on his last visit-- Judgment, The Devil, and Death. She reshuffles and has Gino cut the deck again, this time asking him to draw them himself, and sure enough he draws the same three cards.

As the lights in the psychic shop go out, Gino has a vision in which Kathy tells him she can smell the death and decay around him. A black-winged angel of death appears in the doorway behind Kathy and approaches, placing a hand on his shoulder and asking if it shall kiss him and make the pain go away. Gino resists, however, believing the experience in the room to be an illusion. The angel insists, however, that both Gino and Patrick are dying and they can't resist fate forever.
9. Barbara is attacked by Big Daddy when she's doing which of these things?

Answer: Taking a shower

Gino, returning home and running a bath, relaxes in the water before noticing markings on his body. When he checks the bathroom mirror he notices others just as he catches a glimpse of a figure in the hall behind. When he looks back, however, no one's there

Barbara, home alone, runs herself a shower and imagines Patrick to be shaving at the sink. She doesn't notice as the masked man slides in behind her, strangling her while she screams for help.

Patrick arrives at Barbara's apartment and lets himself in. When she doesn't respond to his calling out, he finds her in the unlocked bathroom, collapsed in the shower, but it's too late. He heads out to the cop car parked outside, yelling at them in a rage for not looking after her.

That night, consoling Patrick, Gino finds similar markings on his back.
10. Whitely expects to unveil his masterpiece at which upcoming event?

Answer: The Pride Parade

Whitely descends into a cellar to find the two men he's secured to tables, bound and gagged, having taken them from the elevator they were trapped in during the earlier blackouts. He jokes that they must be wondering how things could get worse, but they shouldn't be worried; he's not interested in taking away their lives, but instead giving their lives meaning. They get to be part of something bigger and more important.

Whitely admits he's starting to go a bit crazy, not being able to tell anyone his plan, but to these men he spills the beans. During the upcoming New York Pride Parade in two weeks, he plans to unveil everything. For the first time, he'll contribute. From the ceiling, his masterpiece, a crucified body of many parts, is lowered. Only a few pieces are missing on his sentinel, but that's where his prisoners come in.
