Answer: Accusing Tripp of showing favoritism toward Brian

Early in the episode, Patrick is holding a press conference in which the press is interrogating him about the high-profile Fantini brother fraud case. A reporter then queries whether Patrick's indictment of these real estate developers will anger Tripp, and although Patrick does not confirm this at the press conference, a later telephone call between Patrick and Tripp reveals that Tripp is indeed upset. Tripp is angry enough to tell Patrick to move out of the Imperial, only to be trumped by Patrick's announcement that he's already done so. Furthermore, as Patrick gets off the phone, we learn that Simon Elder was present and listening to the entire conversation.

By the end of the episode, Tripp discovers that Patrick has cast his lot in with Simon Elder.

Answer: His mother

Brian is initially very awkward around Brian Jr., but by now the two have formed a close bond. Brian takes an interest in his son's life, arranging for fencing lessons and arguing with tailors. However, Brian Jr.'s mother Andrea returns from Brazil in this episode and asks to see Brian Jr. (although not before the two succumb to their mutual attraction again).

After the wedding is over, Andrea comes to the Imperial to visit Brian Jr. and announces her intention to take Brian Jr. back to Brazil with her. Brian is furious, insisting that Brian Jr. has a life here.

However, he does allow Andrea to take their son home for the night with a warning 'not to pack bags for Brazil yet.'

Answer: Her breakup with her best friend, Juliet

Natalie announces that her estrangement from Juliet has been the most devastating thing that has ever happened to her. Also, in order to make sure that Juliet hears her confession and song, Natalie calls Juliet in advance and tells her to turn on the radio. Jeremy walks in just as the song is playing, and tells Juliet that the 'forgiveness' song was his idea (while he and Natalie were still dating), and that she shouldn't fall for it. Juliet ignores him, and Jeremy stalks off. Meanwhile, Juliet listens to the song with a smile playing across her face, and it is clear that Natalie's reconciliatory gesture has worked.

Answer: Cheerfulness

Brian writes a beautiful ceremony, despite the fact that his only guidance was Karen's "keep it short." He first describes 'confirmation,' which he describes as husband and wife supporting and upholding one another. He then moves on to 'consolation,' describing how spouses buoy each other during tough times. Brian then closes with 'joy,' acknowledging with a smile that it does not begin with a 'c.' However, he claims that surprises are part of life, which is as good a justification as any.

His speech seems to go over well, prompting Tripp to approach Brian later and tell him that he (Brian) is a kind person, even if it doesn't always seem that way.

Answer: All of the other statements are true.

As Karen and Freddy ride the elevator down to where the reception is being held, Freddy announces that he didn't love Karen when he proposed to her. This does not come as a surprise to Karen (or the audience, I would say, since Freddy has made no secret of the fact that he enjoys exclusive club memberships and private jets).

However, he continues on to add that he has fallen in love with her now, and that her wealth is no longer important to him. Many new brides would probably be pleased with Freddy's new and genuine sentiments, but Karen is appalled.

She was okay with marrying Freddy as long as it was a marriage of convenience, but has no desire to be in a marriage where only one person is committed.

Answer: After the wedding ceremony but before the reception ends

Karen and Freddy make it through Brian's ceremony with flying colors. The two look happy and hopeful, as one might expect on one's wedding day. However, by the time the pair arrives at the reception, Karen is ready to call it quits. She whispers to Nick that she wants a divorce, and his flabbergasted expression is priceless. Letitia is similarly appalled, and tells her that it is ridiculous to announce the divorce at the wedding reception. Karen quite hilariously responds that she would never do that, because she doesn't believe in ruining parties.

However, she has no problem having Nick draw up the annulment papers during the reception.

Answer: He tells Karen he was lying to her earlier when he said he loved her.

Freddy is understandably furious when he's called out of his own wedding reception and told that the marriage is over. After verifying that he still gets the three million dollars spelled out in the prenuptials, Freddy signs the annulment papers and yanks off his wedding ring. Freddy then turns on Nick, who is present to oversee the annulment, and snidely says that Nick must have gotten what he wanted. Karen tries to placate Freddy, but Freddy tells her not to bother and stalks out of the room.

Nick returns home after quite an eventful day at the Darlings' to an exuberant Lisa. Lisa just returned from a successful art opening, and is in a good mood. Her good mood disappears fast when she learns that Karen and Freddy's marriage is already over. Lisa immediately jumps to the correct conclusion, that Karen ended her marriage for Nick. (Karen professes her love to Nick at the reception, and kisses him.

After a pause, he pulls back.) Because not all of Lisa's worries are unfounded, Nick chooses the smoothest course and falsely reassures her that Karen's annulment had nothing to do him.

He follows this up with a renewed declaration of love for Lisa, and Lisa is pacified ... for now.

Answer: Simon

Patrick returns from his press conference to find Ellen waiting on the couch angrily. She confronts him about his affair, and Patrick eventually confesses. Ellen does not reveal how she discovered the affair, and Patrick assumes that Tripp told her out of revenge for Patrick's association with Simon Elder. Tripp heatedly denies this, however. Later, Patrick confides the details of his relationship to Simon Elder.

However, when Patrick leaves the room, an exchange between Elder and his assistant reveals that not only did Elder already know about the affair, but also that he leaked the information to Ellen.

Answer: Stay in the marriage - she wants to go to Washington.

Unlike Mei Ling Hwa, Brian's wife, who throws Brian out while she considers ending their marriage, Ellen decides that Patrick's infidelity is not worth throwing away their chances of going to Washington (as a senator and possibly a president). It is left up to the viewer to decide whether she makes this choice because political influence is more important to her than her husband, or if she is so hurt by Patrick's betrayal that she's clinging to the one intact dream she has. Regardless, Ellen tells Patrick that the three of them - Ellen, Carmelita, and Patrick - must have a meeting to set up some ground rules. Patrick looks very disturbed at this idea, but relieved that Ellen is not insisting on a divorce.
