Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The season premiere features a restaurant in what city?

Answer: Boston

The season opened with the two-part episode about Galleria 33 in the North End, Boston's oldest community and known for its large Italian population. Gordon Ramsay tried to help two feuding sisters who dealt with bad food and a head chef with bad habits.
2. In Monvoria, California, Ramsay went to a restaurant called Sam's. What kind of food did it serve?

Answer: Mediterranean

Sam's Mediterranean Kabob Room was owned by a man whose entire family were employees and fought constantly in front of customers. The restaurant closed in January 2014.
3. In what state was Mill Street Bistro?

Answer: Ohio

In the northern Ohio town of Norwalk, Ramsay tries to rescue a bistro that talked about "farm to table", but much of the food was frozen. Ramsey also thought the restaurant was pretentious, with staff wearing name tags, specials being called "features", a menu that didn't make sense, and high prices. The restaurant was renamed Maple City Tavern in December 2013.
4. In what state was Levanti's Italian Restaurant?

Answer: Pennsylvania

Ramsay visited the Pittsburgh-area restaurant where the father of two feuding siblings invested his life savings into the place. Ramsay walked in to one of the most disgusting restaurants he ever saw and said he had the worst Italian food he ever tasted. During service, Ramsay discovered moldy sauce and rotten chicken.

The owners said Ramsay shut them down, but he was trying to stop serving rotten food. The restaurant was closed shortly after the February 2013 airing when the father retired and the children no longer wanted to run the place.
5. In what New York City borough was the site of Mama Maria's?

Answer: Brooklyn

Mama Maria's was a restaurant attached to a pizzeria. The shabby restaurant tried to live on their 1990s success. During service, Ramsay noticed a vegetarian dish with pork bones in the sauce and a customer getting sick from a bad lobster. Mama Maria's had a large quantity of frozen food in stock.
6. What was the in-house entertainment at the Prohibition Grille?

Answer: belly dancing

In Everett, Washington, Ramsay visited a restaurant whose owner was a belly dancer. The staff and customers didn't think it's a good idea. After tasting a "soup of the day" made earlier in the week, he taped over the "grille" in the name. During the service, the head chef left the kitchen and Ramsay shut down the restaurant after tasting a sour gravy and noticing raw food next to cooked food.

He relaunched the restaurant as a gastropub with a new chef.
7. Barefoot Bob's was in Hull, Massachusetts.

Answer: True

Like many beachside restaurants, Barefoot Bob's only did minimal business during the winter months. The owners were a husband and wife with a suffering relationship. The restaurant was dirty and the menu was massive.
8. In season six, Ramsay revisited a restaurant in the western part of the United States.

Answer: False

In season six, he revisited Chiarella's in Philadelphia, Cafe Hon in Baltimore, and Leone's in Montclair, New Jersey.
9. In what city was Chappy's?

Answer: Nashville

Chappy's was a restaurant run by an owner moved to Nashville after his previous Mississippi-based establishment was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. In his initial visit, Ramsay found a large menu with fifteen specials, identical menus for lunch and dinner whose only difference was price, and a chef who didn't take kindly to criticism. During service, he found meat and fish cooked in the same pan, oysters kept at room temperature, and mayonnaise that expired three years before. Chappy's closed in June 2013 after the state seized the restaurant for nonpayment of taxes.
10. One of the most talked about episode in "Kitchen Nightmares" history continues to be Amy's Baking Company in Flagstaff, Arizona. What was the end result?

Answer: Ramsay refused to make over the place

The restaurant was known for owners who constantly argued with anyone who disagreed with them. They claimed the online reviews about their food and service were fake. He also noticed frozen packaged food, hostility against staff and customers, and the high turnover rate.

In the end, Ramsay could not reason with the owners and he walked away without finishing. It was the first time in any version of "Kitchen Nightmares" that Ramsay left a restaurant without a makeover.
