The auctioneer tells Billie that there is no journal written by Malinche. However, the auctioneer trades a journal of Cortes that he indicates had passages written by Malinche in it. In exchange, Billie gives the auctioneer a mosaic from the Roman emperor Caligula that was thought to have been lost. Caligula was the third Roman emperor ruling from 37-41 CE.

He is typically viewed as a cruel and incompetent ruler.

Jess visits the governor's museum in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and learns that Meriwether Lewis's journal will be on display at the upcoming governor's ball. She thinks that the journal has clues to help lead her to the Mesoamerican treasure that the Daughters of the Plumed Serpent worked for centuries to protect.

Answer: Oren's shoe

In a prior episode the famous treasure hunter Riley Poole told Jess that one of her friends was likely working against her by feeding information to Billie. However, Tasha discovers that Liam's shoe was being bugged and that Billie had been able to hear their discussions regarding treasure clues and plans. Billie had kidnapped Oren earlier in the season and presumably had put a bug or recording device on his shoe at that time.

Answer: To pay the property taxes on his deceased grandfather's home

Tasha suspects that Liam is a mole for Billie so she hacks into his computer and sees that he has recently received a $50,000 wire transfer. When Jess confronts Liam about it he tells her that it is to pay the property taxes on his grandfather's home that he has inherited. Eventually Jess apologizes to Liam for suspecting that he was betraying her after it is discovered that Oren's shoe was bugged.

Answer: Billie sees Jess's necklace in a video.

In the pilot episode, Jess's father, Rafael, obtains an Aztec relic and is chased down by henchmen of a man named Salazar. Jess is a baby at this point and along with her mom, Manuela, they are able to escape. Rafael gives Jess a necklace and two decades later she wears it as she identifies it as a part of her culture and a remembrance of her father.

However, Jess doesn't know until Billie tells her that her necklace has a connection to the group of Mesoamerican treasure preservers known as the Daughters of the Plumed Serpent.

Answer: Suicide

Meriwether Lewis was the leader of the Lewis and Clark expedition that traveled along the Missouri and other rivers to the western coast of the United States from 1804 to 1806. The success of the journey prompted President Thomas Jefferson to appoint Lewis as Governor of Louisiana. Lewis died in 1809 from gunshot wounds that were ruled a suicide at the time of his death.

However, Billie explains in the episode that due to how he was shot, Meriwether Lewis was likely killed by assassins that were trying to take his journal.

Answer: Crab legs

Jess, Tasha, Oren, Ethan, Liam and Meena all attend the governor's ball being held in Baton Rouge during which Meriwether Lewis's journal will be displayed. Ethan tells Oren that there are many rules for the event such as not taking selfies and not pitching his business ideas. Oren then tells Tasha that there are no rules as to how crab legs he is allowed to eat after he takes a plateful. Oren tells Tasha that he is 'sticking it to the man' that is charging $500 to attend the event.

Answer: Bowtie

The doorman at the governor's ball tells Liam that all men attending must wear a tie. Liam tells the doorman that his clip broke and he doesn't have one. Thinking quickly, Jess rips off a part of her dress and makes it into a bowtie to go along with Liam's suit. The doorman grudgingly lets Liam and the rest of his group in to the party after this.

Answer: Bad Romance

The fifth episode of season one of "National Treasure: Edge of History" is titled "Bad Romance". At the governor's ball the song plays and Oren and Tasha tell Ethan and Jess that they have to dance to it like they did back in middle school and at prom. Reluctantly they dance to the song and their connection to each other makes both Meena and Liam jealous and they walk away before the song ends.

"Bad Romance" was released by Lady Gaga in 2009 and it topped the charts in 20 countries but surprisingly it did not top the US Billboard Hot 100 where it peaked at number two.

Answer: Liam

The group's plan was for Liam to reset the digital code on the display case for the Meriwether Lewis journal after Tasha hacks it. Then he was supposed to take pictures on his cell phone of all of the pages in the journal and put it back into the display case. Jess is surprised when she sees Liam walking away with the journal and a guard thinks that Jess was the one that took it. Eventually cops pursue Jess but she is able to get away when her nemesis Billie shows up and takes her away in her car.
