Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Notoriously difficult to completely remove, what does Oliver use to mark the person collecting the fake evidence from Morningside Park?

Answer: Glitter

After discovering the person they've been texting is not Detective Williams as they'd assumed, our protagonists theorise that it's actually the killer. With the hopes of catching them, they take inspiration from an episode of Charles' former show, 'Brazzos,' and plant a glitter bomb instead of the evidence they'd intended to hand over. Oliver suggested the use of glitter because his years of regional theatre had taught him that "there's no getting rid of glitter".
2. Mabel accompanies Theo to which New York attraction in an effort to unmask her attacker?

Answer: Coney Island theme park

As they exit the subway car, Mabel's attacker bumps into Theo, dropping their Coney Island security badge in the process. Although initially hesitant to accept his help, Mabel allows Theo to accompany her to the theme park where they search and then steal the personnel files.
3. A song from which 1975 broadway show does Oliver sing to help Detective Williams' son relieve his gas?

Answer: A Chorus Line

When Detective William's newborn son Keith starts crying during a visit, Oliver suggests it might be because of gas. He sings part of the song "One" from 'A Chorus Line' while helping Keith do the high kicks that accompany the number in the show. Much to the detective's surprise, Oliver's method works although she assures him that she won't be trying the method herself.
4. Inspired by Mabel's love of jigsaw puzzles, what is the title of episode 7?

Answer: Flipping the Pieces

Mabel and her dad used to complete jigsaw puzzles together and would challenge themselves by turning the pieces facedown so the image was hidden. Although this was truly something she did as a child, it's also a metaphor Mabel uses to explain how she blocks out memories that are too traumatic for her to process.

In order to clear her name and finally solve the case, Mabel realises that she now needs to face those traumatic memories or in other words, she needs to "flip the pieces". She hopes seeing what's on the surface will help her see how the pieces all fit together.
5. What condition does Howard's crush have that threatens to scupper any potential for further romance (warning: sneezing may ensue!)?

Answer: He's deathly allergic to cats

Howard and Jonathan have an impromptu date during the blackout and everything seems to be going great - they share a love of singing, Jonathan's dream job is as a librarian, and their chemistry is strong. Then, just as they're about to kiss, Jonathan starts sneezing and reveals that he's deathly allergic to cats.

Since Howard is extremely close to his cats, it means he's faced with the question of whether the potential for a human relationship outweighs his desire to keep his beloved pet.
6. Mabel sees a logo on a backpack and sweat towel that she recognises but can't quite place - what barnyard animal does it depict?

Answer: Chicken

She and Charles agree that chickens are "so weird" but neither are able to place the logo. Later, when Mabel is listening back to the podcast that brought her, Oliver, and Charles together ('All is not OK in Oklahoma'), she realises that she hadn't actually seen the logo anywhere - she'd just heard Cinda Canning describe it.

It's this realisation that helps her realise that their latest case is somehow still linked to their first.
7. Before becoming Cinda Canning's assistant, Poppy worked for a man who held which powerful position?

Answer: Mayor

She worked as a secretary for the mayor in her local town and was seemingly the only other employee in his office. In a flashback scene, the mayor is acting inappropriately towards her by asking her to stay late after work and have a drink with him. It seems that this was not the first time he'd done so and although she once again said 'no', he made the ominous comment that "you're not always gonna be able to say no to me".
8. A sandwich with what unusual combination of ingredients is on the menu at 'The Pickle Bar'?

Answer: Liverwurst and marmalade

The waiter, Ivan, explains that the sandwich is a favourite of the owner's sister and that's why they have it on the menu. As it turns out, this sandwich is the missing piece that helps Mabel figure out both what Bunny said to her right before she died AND who killed her!
9. None of the 'Arconiac' super fans wavered in their belief that Charles, Oliver, and Mabel would solve the case of who killed Bunny before the police.

Answer: False

In fact, of the four 'Arconiacs' we met in season one, only Marv remained unwavering in his belief that the trio would solve the case before the cops did. The other three were even considering ditching the 'Only Murders in the Building' crew and moving their fan service over to a political embezzlement podcast called 'Take the Money and Run'.
10. What style of singing can be heard in the theme music played during the final episode's closing credits (perhaps Howard was the musical director...)?

Answer: Yodeling

During his date with Jonathan, Howard reveals that he founded a Yodelshop quartet which he describes as "classic barbershop harmonies, punctuated by the ancient Alpine art of distance yodeling".

Although the theme music does usually include voice (along with piano and strings), this time the other instruments are stripped away and the tune is performed by harmonising yodelers. It was fascinating to hear how that style of singing could be applied to a familiar, modern tune!
