Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the episode "The Witch", a potion was used that turned the skin blue. This was used as an indicator for what?

Answer: If someone had used magic in the past 48 hours

"Giles: 'Heat ingredients and apply to witch, and if a spell has been cast in the previous 48 hours, witch's skin turns blue.'" (The quote is taken from "Psyche: Buffy Transcripts".)
2. "From the blood of the sire she is risen. From the blood of the sire, she shall rise again." Who said this? (The quote is taken from "Psyche: Buffy Transcripts".)

Answer: Spike

The quote is part of a ritual to restore Dru back to health from the episode "What's My Line, Part 2". This was the episode where an organ fell on Spike and crippled him. The character was originally meant to be killed off, but the viewers loved him so much, he became one of the main villains of the season and part of the main cast later on.
3. "Nici mort, nici de-al fiintei. Lasa orbita sa fie vasul care-i va transporta, sufletul la el. Asa sa fie! Asa sa fie! Acum! Acum!" What was the purpose of these words? (The quote is taken from "Psyche: Buffy Transcripts".)

Answer: To restore Angel's soul.

This was Willow's first major spell. The English translation is this, "Neither dead, nor of the living. Let this Orb be the vessel that will carry his soul to him. So it shall be! So it shall be! Now! Now!" (The quote is taken from "Psyche: Buffy Transcripts".) The curse worked at the last minute and retored Angel's soul which lead to, in my opinion, one of the most heartbreaking scenes on the show.
4. "Living Flame" was conjured up in which episode?

Answer: Revelations

The flame was used to destroy the Glove of Myhnegon. Gwendolyn Post masqueraded as Faith's watcher to obtaine the power of the glove. Buffy killed her by slicing off her arm.
5. In the episode "Living Conditions", a spell was used to steal what from Buffy?

Answer: her soul

Buffy's roommate, Kathy, needed a soul to hide from the other Mok'tagar who wanted her back.
6. In which episode was a spell cast in order to detect the presence of other spells?

Answer: "No Place Like Home"

Buffy thought someone had cast a spell on her mother, making her ill. Instead, she found out that Dawn was not her real sister, but the Key.
7. In the episode "Bargaining, Part 1", what was the "Wine of the Mother"?

Answer: The blood of a young deer

It was awful when Willow killed that poor deer. I think that scene really showed Willow's path into the dark magics.
8. Complete the following: "When the fire goes out, when the crystal turns black, the spell will be cast. _____ ______". (The quote is taken from "Psyche: Buffy Transcripts".)

Answer: Tabula Rasa

"Tabula Rasa" means "clean slate" in Latin. The name of the episode was from a spell Willow cast. It was supposed to make Buffy and Tara forget their troubles but accidentally erased everyone's memories.
9. In the episode "Dead Things", what type of gland was used to help power the cerebral dampener?

Answer: musk gland

"The musk gland is an abdominal gland in the musk deer. The gland is only found in males and secretes a strong odor to attract female deer. Despite the disgusted faces on the Trio when they smelled the gland, the musk gland is actually used to make perfume and soap." (This information was obtained from "www.infoplease.com".)
10. In the episode "Lies My Parents Told Me", Giles uses a stone to trigger memories of Spike's past. What kind of stone was this?

Answer: prokaryote

"Pyrite stone is used to attract and balance male energies and also for protection and shielding of physical, emotional and subtle energies. Petoskey stone is used to dissipate negativity and protection of the head area. It also stimulates the 3rd eye and blocks mischievous spirits who might try and interfere." (This information is obtained from "http://www.angelslove.net/properties_of_crystals_stones.htm".)
There is no such thing as a propalactic stone.
