Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these episodes has a theme that's different from the others?

Answer: "Amends"

"Halloween," "Fear, Itself" and "All the Way" are Halloween episodes (from the second, the fourth and the sixth seasons, respectively). "Amends" is a Christmas episode.
2. Which of these vampires has had a taste of something similar to, yet different from the other three?

Answer: Spike

They have all tasted a Slayer's blood. But more specifically, three of them fed on Buffy: The Master in "Prophecy Girl," Angel in "Graduation Day, Part Two," and Dracula in "Buffy vs. Dracula." Spike fed on a Chinese Slayer (as we see in a flashback in "Fool for Love"). Spike also had a brief taste of Buffy's blood in "Sleeper," when he sucked on an open wound in her shoulder, but he never bit Buffy.
3. This one should be obvious. Which one doesn't belong?

Answer: "Mrs."

All of these are original "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" songs. Three of them are from the musical episode, "Once More, with Feeling": "Under Your Spell" is Tara's song, "Standing" is Giles', and "Rest in Peace" is Spike's. "Mrs." is Anya's song from the episode "Selfless," which features a flashback to the musical.

Here are less obvious common traits: all four songs are solo numbers, and the three songs from the musical have a resprise. "Under Your Spell" and "Standing" are reprised in Giles and Tara's duet, "Under Your Spell / Standing (Reprise)," and "Rest in Peace" is reprised together with "Walk Through the Fire" in "Coda."
4. These people are somehow related. Which one is different?

Answer: Rory

They are related... to Scoobies. Three of them are parents, and one is an uncle. Joyce and Hank Summers are Buffy's parents, and Sheila Rosenberg is Willow's mother. (There is also another Sheila in "School Hard," but she doesn't fit any common pattern with the other three.) Rory is Xander's uncle.

Sheila and Uncle Rory only appeared in one episode each: "Gingerbread" and "Hell's Bells," respectively.
5. Something happens to certain people in these episodes. Which one stands out in that respect?

Answer: "Graduation Day, Part One"

A Slayer dies in three of them: Buffy in "Prophecy Girl" and in "The Gift," and Kendra in "Becoming, Part One."
In "Graduation Day, Part One," a Slayer (Faith) is incapacitated. We are at first led to think that Faith dies (Faith tells Buffy, "You did it. You killed me," and Buffy tells Angel that she killed Faith), but as we later find out, Faith is merely in a coma, not dead.
6. Which of these episodes marks a different occasion from the other three?

Answer: "Family"

These are birthday episodes -- three of Buffy's and one of Tara's. Buffy turns 17 in "Surprise" / "Innocence," 18 in "Helpless," 19 in "A New Man," 20 in "Blood Ties" and 21 in "Older and Far Away." Tara turns 20 in "Family."
7. Which of these people's role on the show wasn't the same as that of the other three?

Answer: Elyssa D. Vito

They all played younger versions of major characters.
Mimi Paley, Candice Nicole and Alexandra Lee played young Buffy in "Killed by Death," in "Blood Ties" and in "The Weight of the World," respectively. Elyssa D. Vito played young Dawn in "Blood Ties."
8. Each of these episodes features an unusual encounter. Which one looks different?

Answer: "Who Are You?"

Three episodes bring together two identically looking characters: Willow and Vampire Willow in "Doppelgangland," confident Xander and self-conscious Xander in "The Replacement," and Buffy and the Buffybot in "Intervention." "Who Are You?" brings together two characters who look like each other (Buffy and Faith when they have swapped bodies). The effect of two Willows in "Doppelgangland" was achieved by using a body double (Jennifer Nicole) and digitally adding Alyson Hannigan's face. For scenes with two Xanders in "The Replacement," Nicholas Brendon's real-life twin, Kelly Donovan, was used. I'm not sure about two Buffys in "Intervention," but since they never touched each other, I assume it was simple green screen.
9. Each of these episodes revolves around a surprise event related to a certain character. Which one is unlike the others?

Answer: "This Year's Girl" / "Who Are You?"

All of these feature the brief return of a character. In three of them, a character comes back to Sunnydale: Spike in "Lover's Walk," Oz in "New Moon Rising" and Riley in "As You Were." Faith doesn't return to Sunnydale in "This Year's Girl" (she was in Sunnydale all the time) -- she just wakes up from her coma.
10. Something happens to Buffy in these episodes. Which one stands out?

Answer: "Earshot"

In three of them, Buffy temporarily loses something: her powers in "Helpless," her voice in "Hush" and her memory in "Tabula Rasa." In "Earshot," she temporarily gains something (telepathic ability).
