Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show Quiz

Answer: Firestorm

In the opening theme he flies by and it says "Introducing: Firestorm". Plastic Man was never in this series. He was a special guest in the 1973-1974 series of "Super Friends". Black Vulcan was introduced in "The Challenge Of The Super Friends" in 1978. Cyborg was introduced in the 1985 series called "The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians".

Answer: Aquaman and Flash

Aquaman and Flash both had a special scene in the opening theme song, but that's all we ever saw of them. They were never in a single episode. Hawkman was never in this series or the theme song. Both the Wonder Twins and their pet sidekick Gleek were featured in the theme song and the series. So were Robin and Black Vulcan.

Answer: Mirror Master

He used mirror reflections to capture the Super Friends. Samurai comes to the rescue in this episode. Darkseid, Brainiac, and Lex Luthor were all featured in this series, but were not featured in this episode.

Answer: Red

The Wonder Twins Zan and Jayna along with their pet sidekick Gleek found it at a construction site. They brought it back to the Super Friends hang out, the "Hall of Justice". Samurai explains that red kryptonite has a weird effect on Superman. It can make him stronger, weaker, or it can make him younger. Mr. Mxyzptlk made two appearances in this series.

This episode was one of them. The other episode was called "Mr. Mxyzptlk And The Magic Lamp".

Answer: Apache Chief

Apache Chief escapes from Doctor Dan Corwin's fortress. Doctor Dan Corwin uses a horrible ray that turns people into dinosaurs. He used it on the Super Friends. Apache Chief hooked up with Robin and Ronald Raymond. They found a way to get back into the fortress and saved the other Super Friends as well as help put everything back to the way it should be.

Answer: Power suit

Lex Luthor had a special power suit that let him fly around and cause trouble for the Super Friends. He worked with Darkseid in this episode. He later betrayed Darkseid. Darkseid would have the last laugh on Lex Luthor. When Lex stole the Super Friends' powers, Darkseid told Lex that he also has their weakness.

He dumped kryptonite dust on Lex. Kenner's toy line of Super Powers action figures made a figure for Lex in his power suit. The funny part is that this is the only episode where we see him in his power suit.

Answer: Apache Cheif

Apache Chief comes to the rescue again! Wonder Woman was trapped by the Wonder Twins who were under Brainiac's mind control device. Apache Chief was the only hope. He said his super special words "Inyuk-chuk" and grew several hundred feet tall and grabbed Brainiac's ship. Green Lantern and Superman were never featured in this episode.

Answer: Gold kryptonite

Gold kryptonite is the strongest of all types of kryptonite. One touch of it by Superman and his powers are gone forever. Darkseid wanted to get it to defeat the Super Friends once and for all. Darkseid did end up getting it, but he didn't win it at the auction.

He tried to use it on Superman. But El Dorado used his powers to make Batman look like Superman. When Darkseid gave it to Batman nothing happened. Darkseid was very upset that he had been tricked again by the Super Friends.

Answer: Kalibak

Kalibak is definitely Darkseid's son. He called him father in practically every episode. Desaad is Darkseid's cowardly advisor. He makes all of Darkseid's inventions. Brainiac is an android and Mirror Master has no relation to any of them.

Answer: Wonder Woman

Darkseid has a school boy crush on Wonder Woman. He's always trying to marry her. He'll go for any chance he can get to snatch her. Of course it was the Wonder Woman android that Kalibak grabbed. Darkseid wasn't too happy about that. An interesting side note about this series is that the first episode was "The Bride Of Darkseid".

He tried to marry Wonder Woman in that one. Another interesting fact is that this is the first episode were we see Brainiac's new chrome colored body. He explains the change to Darkseid.

He also shows a computer image of how he used to look. What's funny is the opening theme shows Brainiac in his old body. He appeared two times in this series and never once in his old body. Brainiac has a golden yellow brain in this series.

His octopuss-like space ship has a golden yellow brain as well. In the 1985 "Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians", both Brainiac and his ship have a chrome colored brain.

Answer: Firestorm

Firestorm was on his way to Sidney Wanamaker's house to study for school. He noticed Sidney flying out the window. Sidney used a magic belt that he made after reading Batman's plans on the Super Friends computer which he tapped into. The belt gave him the ability to fly.

Answer: Fairmont University

You can see the Fairmont University sign in the episode "The Bride Of Darkseid", plus the narrator mentions the name in the episode. It's a special scene that shows the teenage side of Ronald Raymond.

Answer: Samurai

Samurai used his invisibility power to avoid getting caught by the Curator. Samurai waited until The Curator's back was turned and saved the day. Green Lantern wasn't in this episode. Firestorm and Batman had been turned into statues; they were no help.

Answer: El Dorado

The Super Friends were battling the evil Dollmaker. The Dollmaker was originally named the "Toyman". You can see in this episode that the name of the toy factory was called "Big Shott's Toy World". Winslow Schott was the Toyman. Notice how the sign of "Big Shott's Toy World" is missing the "c" in Winslow Schott's last name.

This is clearly an artistic mistake. El Dorado was hung like a puppet but managed to turn on the sprinklers and melt all of Dollmaker's evil magic mud. Once the water from the sprinklers melted the magic mud dolls, the Super Friends were free from his mind control. On a side note to all action figure collectors, this was the series that launched the Kenner Super Powers Collection. Thirty-four action figures were produced.

The third series has been the hardest to find. Collectors pay top dollar for them.
