Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many castaways competed in this season?

Answer: Twenty

Twenty new castaways arrived on two boats clad in purple and orange and ten were deemed Naviti (in the former buffs) and ten were deemed Malolo (in the latter). Right off the bat, Jeff told the players that their ability to stand by their choices would be put to the test as they had to select a de facto tribe leader for a challenge and compete for a machete, pot, and rice (less rice than any season before). One team could also win a fishing kit and shelter-building gear, but it would be contingent on if they could finish the complex puzzle presented to them. Ultimately, Naviti forfeit the challenge to salvage fishing gear, giving Malolo twenty eggs and a flint off the bat. With that, they headed to their respective camps and the game started in earnest.
2. Prior to the merge, the person sent to Ghost Island had to be decided unanimously or, alternatively, through which means?

Answer: Drawing of rocks

As Jeff explained to the tribes upon reaching their first Immunity Challenge, castaways would be sent to Ghost Island, a graveyard of bad decisions, should they fail over the course of the game. Though this would be a problem for many, with the location being somewhat of an Exile Island clone, it would also grant them opportunities to reverse the curses of past bad decisions in "Survivor".

In the tribal phase of the game, someone from the losing tribe would be elected by the winning tribe to head to Ghost Island, sometimes between challenges and sometimes being omitted from Tribal Council. If the winning tribe could not determine who should go, the losing tribe would draw rocks to determine the exiled player.
3. Which of these awaited fortunate (or possibly unfortunate) visitors to Ghost Island?

Answer: A game of chance

Upon arriving at Ghost Island, the visiting castaway would be able to break one form a row of urns and receive either an invite to go deeper into the jungle or to stay put. If they received the invite they would have the opportunity to make a potentially-dangerous choice with a game of chance, smashing one of two urns. If they were successful they would win an advantage featured in an earlier season, but misplayed in its original run. If they were unsuccessful they would lose their vote at the next Tribal Council.

They could also simply opt out of the game if they chose, and some did.
4. On Day 15, the tribes divided, adding which of these third tribes to the game?

Answer: Yanuya

While teams arrived at the challenge beach on Day 7 with the intent to compete, Jeff informed the group that they would be dropping their buffs and mixing up to reform Naviti and Malolo and, then, the tribes managed to set up with five original Naviti members and four Malolo tribemates.

When Day 15 rolled around, the mix-up was even greater as the fifteen remaining castaways split onto three evenly-distributed teams. Yanuya, in green buffs, never ended up going to Tribal Council at this stage of the game; they integrated with the other tribes only five days later.
5. Kellyn received the Vote Stealer advantage from "Survivor: Game Changers", but what could it do in "Ghost Island"?

Answer: Act as an extra vote

On Day 20, Kellyn was sent back to Ghost Island by the Naviti tribe as they wanted to send a player who'd already been there in exile, and what they ensured was that she would have another chance at a Ghost Island game of chance. The result was the Vote Stealer found under Michaela's bench in "Game Changers" that was subsequently found by Sarah and used to eliminate Michaela at Tribal Council. In this season, however, it would simply act as an extra vote, and she'd use it on Day 29 to force a tie at Tribal Council.

On Day 33, Sebastian was sent to Ghost Island and won the still-hexed Vote Stealer to be used as an extra vote. He didn't use it before his elimination on Day 36.
6. The merge, occurring on Day 20, led to a single tribe known by what name?

Answer: Lavita

On Day 20, boats brought all tribes together on Naviti's beach for a merge feast and the announcement of the individual game, right at the half-way point of the players' time in Fiji. This merge came with a potential idol find for one player, Chris, who found a message in his new buff and was sent to Ghost Island in the middle of the night.

He won himself an idol-- one received and left unused by J.T. in "Game Changers"-- but failed to use it at the very next Tribal Council, getting eliminated with it in his pocket...just like J.T.
7. Who ultimately used the Legacy Advantage, originally received in "Survivor: Game Changers"?

Answer: Domenick

The Legacy Advantage, originally willed by Sierra to Sarah in "Game Changers", made its return to the game early on in "Ghost Island" when it ended up being the first Secret Advantage to be gained from a game of chance on Day 3. Daniel ended up playing the game, opening the right container to find the item but he had to will it, immediately, to someone on the other tribe. He gave it to Morgan.

The catch was that Morgan was eliminated on Day 9, unable to use it, so she willed it onward to Domenick. Since the advantage could only be used when there were thirteen or six people left in the game, Domenick used it on Day 22, right at the merge, even though he received no votes to his name.
8. Two idols were found in the game, both of which were fake in their original seasons. Whose idol returned to Ghost Island as an authentic, usable Hidden Immunity Idol?

Answer: Ozzy's (from "Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites")

Ozzy's was found on Day 16 when Michael located it at the old Malolo tribe and he discovered that while the cursed 'stick' idol may have been problematic back in Micronesia, it had evolved into a fully-usable Immunity Idol in its time on Ghost Island. Michael used it on Day 25, nulling out seven votes against him and saving himself. He would last another four days.

David's fake idol came back as well, but not until Domenick located it on Day 28. This idol, which Jay used in Fiji in season 33, didn't have any special powers, though Domenick could pretend it had them if he felt it was to his advantage. He used it for these means on Day 36.
9. On Day 29, the castaways discovered what twist?

Answer: Double Tribal Council

The events of Day 29 threw a wrench into players' plans as they headed to the challenge beach to compete in a trickier Immunity Challenge. Two Immunity Necklaces were up for grabs and two would be eliminated at the end of the day, each from separate temporary tribes. Chelsea and Domenick ended up winning immunity and what followed was one Tribal Council after another, the first of which saw Donathan using a hidden idol (and Jenna being eliminated) and the second of which saw Kellyn using her Extra Vote to force a tie (ending with Michael being eliminated).

When the dust settled, only eight were left.
10. Who won "Survivor: Ghost Island" with a tie-breaking vote?

Answer: Wendell

The final days of the game resulted in a strong alliance making it through to the end, and when the final Tribal Council arrived with Wendell, Domenick, and Laurel seated in front of the ten-person jury, it really only boiled down to an analysis of Wendell and Domenick's game. For the first time since the very first "Survivor" game, Jeff read all the votes at Tribal Council immediately after they were cast, revealing the first-ever finale tie vote with the most recent jury members voting for Wendell and the earlier ones voting for Domenick.

The tie-breaking vote subsequently went to Laurel, and her ballot gave Wendell the million dollar prize, deeming him the Sole Survivor of "Ghost Island".
