Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This season started with three tribes, per its name, but how many castaways were on each starting tribe?

Answer: Six

A new group of Survivors were brought in on a ship and introduced to the game by Jeff before embarking on a thirty-nine day game of cunning and endurance. With eighteen competitors on deck, Jeff informed them that they would split into three tribes based on their traits. Levu, donning blue, would be those considered Heroes; the yellow-clad Soko would be the Healers; the red-buffed Yawa would be best-known as Hustlers.

After said buffs were handed out, the game was on. The could collect their rowboats off the side of their ship, nab as many supplies as they could, and attempt to grab fire from the beach.
2. Almost as soon as castaways started the season, the Super Immunity Idol was found. What trait did this item possess?

Answer: It could only be used at the first Tribal Council

In the chaos of the start of the competition, Ryan of the Hustlers tribe located the Secret Advantage to be found on the ship, later determining it to be a 'Super Immunity Idol'. This idol, playable after the votes were read, could only be used by a player at the very first Tribal Council, meaning that if the Yawa tribe didn't have to vote someone out on Day 3, Ryan could will it to someone on the first losing tribe anonymously.

He would end up giving it to Chrissy of the Levu tribe who, while secured by the new twist, didn't need to use it. Katrina was eliminated instead.
3. On Day 9, the castaways dropped their buffs for a tribal swap. Did they leave this event with three different tribes?

Answer: Yes

Heading to the Reward Challenge on Day 9, the three teams were told to drop their buffs for the first big shake-up of the game. With that, the tribes shuffled thoroughly with all original groupings being redivided out. Jeff had them test their new groupings immediately, tossing them into a physical Reward Challenge for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

These tribal divisions would continue for another nine days during which the new Yawa tribe wouldn't see Tribal Council. This would be significant for Healers Mike, Cole, and Jessica, as they wouldn't see Tribal at all until the Merge.
4. On Day 9, Jessica located a Vote Blocker advantage. Where did she find it?

Answer: In a bag of chips

Winning the PB&J reward challenge with her new tribe, Jessica opened a provided bag of potato chips to discover a Secret Advantage waiting atop her food, and while it was at her discretion as to how secret she kept it, it would only apply to her tribe if they went to Tribal Council (which they didn't).
Ultimately, it would block one person from being able to vote at the Day 11 Tribal Council proceedings. It went to Levu instead, with Jessica giving it to Devon. If not for other circumstances, the vote would have resulted in a tie. Instead, Alan was eliminated.
5. Tribes merged on Day 17, forming Solewa. How many castaways formed the new tribe?

Answer: Twelve

With every tribe out of food, the merge couldn't come soon enough. As they came into what appeared to be a Reward Challenge on Day 17, they were instead told that they would be dropping their buffs and taking new ones as a twelve-person, merged tribe. Donning purple, they ended up taking on the name Solewa, a word comprised of pieces of the three original tribes.

It ended up consisting of five Yawa tribemates, four Levu players, and three Soko contestants. Based on original tribes, it meant four Heroes, five Healers, and three Hustlers.

In addition to merging, all of the players enjoyed a feast courtesy of Outback Steakhouse.
6. On Day 21, Lauren abstained from voting at Tribal Council for the chance to gain an advantage. Which of these was she granted as a result?

Answer: Extra Vote

When the players merged into Solewa they were informed that they would need to construct a new camp on a new beach, and with that they were given the supplies to do so. This particular advantage was found by Lauren, rolled up in a bundle of provided nails, and it allowed her to abstain from a subsequent vote at Tribal Council, allowing her instead to take her voting ballot and stow it away for use at a later Tribal Council.

She succeeded in doing so on Day 21, going unnoticed, but she was eliminated with the ballot on Day 33 due to the use of a Hidden Immunity Idol, sending her out of the game with a single vote to her name.
7. This season saw the return of the Survivor Auction, not seen since "Survivor: Worlds Apart".

Answer: False

Though this season didn't see the return of the Survivor Auction (not seen in the game for five seasons at this point), it did feature a number of high-value Reward Challenge prizes including rides on yachts, seaplane excursions, spa trips, and overnight resort stays. Chrissy ended up winning the majority of the rewards, heading out on five of the seven individual Reward Challenges. Perhaps not coincidentally, she also ended up winning four of the later Immunity Challenges, pushing her all the way to the finale.
8. Was anyone in this season successfully able to play a Hidden Immunity Idol to save themselves from elimination at Tribal Council?

Answer: Yes

This season saw multiple Hidden Immunity Idols come into play including one that was revealed in two parts. Two people managed to use these idols to save themselves, and one of them managed to do so more than once. Joe found an idol on Day 4, using it at his first Tribal Council on Day 11 to save himself while Ben used two-- one on Day 33 and another on Day 37-- to protect himself from the majority. He used one more, preemptively, on Day 36, avoiding votes before they were cast.

There were several faulty uses as well. Joe used one on Day 19, at the merge, only to discover he had no votes against him. Mike also used one on Day 24, stopping two votes for him (against seven for Cole). Ryan used one more on Day 30, stopping two votes for him despite Joe being eliminated with four.
9. This season introduced a simplified penultimate Tribal Council. Instead of a traditional vote, players did which of the following?

Answer: Made fire

This season saw a shift in the penultimate Tribal Council. Though there was an Immunity Challenge on Day 37 (won by Chrissy), there was an added twist attached to this major win, specifically that she would get to choose who would go to the Final Three with her (she chose Ryan).

The other two would arrive at Tribal Council and go head-to-head in a fire-making challenge with the winner being able to proceed to the final Tribal and the other being eliminated without a formal vote. It sent Devon to the jury, leaving two Heroes and one Hustler in the finale.
10. Which castaway was the winner of "Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers"?

Answer: Ben

Following the final Tribal Council format established in "Game Changers" a season before, the last vote was preceded not by a question and answer session, but an open forum between the jury and the final three as they discussed the thesis of "Survivor": 'Outwit, Outplay, Outlast'. All three finalists received votes at the end but it was Ben beating out Chrissy and Ryan with five votes to their two and one votes respectively, sweeping the votes from the earlier eliminated players, all of whom were on the jury to witness his massive idol play on Day 33.

He took the million dollar prize and the title of 'Sole Survivor' after thirty-nine days in Fiji.
