Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On Day 1, the tribes were created by which means?

Answer: They were split by gender

Heading along the Rio Negro, sixteen new castaways made their way via a riverboat into the Amazon Rainforest to begin another thirty-nine day cycle of "Survivor". To begin this competition, Jeff announced the teams and asked them to gather in their respective boats. To everyone's surprise, the tribes of this game were 'all-men' versus 'all-women'.

The women became known as Jaburu and wore yellow; the men became Tambaqui and donned blue. Because of the famous Amazon tribes of women, the teams were divided by gender for the first time and they headed off to their new camps.
2. Which of these was not a part of the tribes' starting supplies upon arriving at their camps on Day 1?

Answer: A bottle of champagne

Upon arriving at their riverside camps, Jaburu and Tambaqui found a single crate waiting to be opened. Each of these contained the bare essentials-- a first aid kit, fishing lines and hooks, two lanterns, kerosene, five gallons of freshwater, a flint, machetes, and a large container of manioc flour, also known as cassava.
A single locked box was also included with the tribes' supplies with instructions not to open it until they received a key telling them to do so. While the men worked at constructing shelter, the women started by lighting their fire.
3. On the fifth day, the Jaburu tribe found which of the following smuggled foods in their camp?

Answer: Granola bar

When emptying their crate of supplies after a rainy night, the women of Jaburu found a half-eaten granola bar in the bottom leading them to be worried that someone was lying amongst them. When the women lost and went to the second Tribal Council, they voted out their most likely suspect, Janet, who denied her responsibility in the occurrence and became the first Jaburu casualty. This is similar to the first week of "Survivor: The Outback" when Kel was accused of smuggling beef jerky into the game for his own gain.
To remedy the situation, the girls burnt the remainder of their find.
4. On Day 15, did the tribes have a Reward Challenge?

Answer: No

In one of the earliest twists of the game, the Reward Challenge for Day 15 was nixed. Instead, the youngest member of each tribe, Jenna of Jaburu and Dave of Tambaqui, were told to have a meeting and overnight luxury stay at a separate camp. The next morning they were forced to choose new tribes, alternating between men and women and finally mixing the genders. Alex, Rob, and Matthew became Jaburu members while Jeanne, Heidi, and Christy went to live at Tambaqui's camp.

This proved to be a small turning point for the men whose influences allowed the next Tribal Council eliminations to be women.
5. The merge occurred on Day 19. The new tribe's name, Jacaré, referred to which of these?

Answer: Alligator

On Day 20, teams were instructed to open the mysterious locked boxes at their campsites with a key left in their tree mail boxes. This told them to paddle out with their water, machetes, and packs to merge at a new campsite. Upon merging, the new tribe's name, Jacaré, was 'alligator' in Portuguese. Five members from Jaburu and five from Tambaqui joined together with their new red buffs and while, under normal "Survivor" circumstances, this would mean a dead even voting situation, many tribe members developed new schemes due to their mixing up less than a week before.
6. During the endurance-based Immunity Challenge on Day 20, Jenna and Heidi strategized by jumping off their pillars for which of these?

Answer: Chocolate and peanut butter

For the first individual Immunity Challenge, the merged castaways were required to stand atop perches in the Rio Negro, balancing through the elements in an attempt to be the last person standing. Throughout the task, the tribe members were forced to contend with temptations-- Jenna and Heidi opted to strip down for chocolate and peanut butter before exiting the challenge at the thirty minute mark.

At one hour, several others jumped off for pizza; at two hours they received buffalo wings and blue cheese; two and a half hours brought spaghetti and meatballs at which point Christy gave Deena immunity, jumping off after losing Rock, Paper, Scissors. Roger, who was third to jump off at thirty-five minutes, was voted off.
7. Which of these castaways became the first jury member?

Answer: Dave

On Day 21, just over the halfway point of the game, Dave was voted out eight to one to become the first member of the jury which would later vote for the winner of "Survivor: Amazon". In subsequent Tribal Council ceremonies, a number of different plans broke apart and fell back into place to create the next six members of the jury.

In no particular order, the jury included Heidi, Deena, Dave, Alex, and Christy (as well as two from the final four).
8. Which castaway was the only one to hand off their immunity to another player?

Answer: Jenna

On Day 33, after many arguments between different tribe members in the final six, the Jacaré tribe headed onward to Tribal Council to vote the eleventh person out of the game. Jenna, who won the Immunity Challenge, a game involving a slingshots and shuffleboard, was given the option of retaining her immunity necklace or handing it off to another player and, for the first time in "Survivor" history, she gave up immunity, protecting Heidi from votes and forcing Christy out of the game with a vote of four to two.
9. What was the final reward (in the final reward challenge) on Day 34?

Answer: A vehicle

On Day 34, the final five ended up running into their final Reward Challenge of the game, an obstacle course and puzzle revolving around several different tasks from previous challenges. When all was said and done it was Matthew, one of the physically-strongest castaways, who ended up taking home a brand-new Saturn Ion.

In addition to this, he won a barbecue meal which he shared with Rob. Matthew also won the subsequent Immunity Challenge, securing his spot in the final four. Returning from the Reward Challenge the tribe was shocked to find that their camp had, for the most part, burnt down. With only five days remaining, they had to choose what to rebuild.
10. Who won "Survivor: The Amazon" and took the million dollar prize?

Answer: Jenna

On Day 39, the final two, Jenna and Matthew, headed to Tribal Council for the final votes. The game now handed over to the jury, the duo answered questions and made their final closing arguments before the votes were made. In the end, Jenna won with a vote of six to one, the widest margin in "Survivor" history.

She received votes from Rob, Heidi, Christy, Alex, Deena, and Dave, mostly due to her likability and trustworthiness throughout the game. Matthew's vote was given by Butch. Jenna, along with Heidi, also received the least amount of votes during the game (both received only three); Jenna also won the most individual Immunity Challenges.
