1. How do the Haibane receive their names?

Answer: They are named according to what happened in their cocoon dream.

Rakka and Reki's dreams were incomplete, but both were named after what they remembered: "falling" (for Rakka) and "little stones" (for Reki).

2. What part of Rakka's body does her new halo affect?

Answer: Her hair

The halo causes her hair to stand on end, just like static electricity.

3. To what humorous use does Hikari put the halo-maker before returning it to the Haibane temple?

Answer: She uses it to make ring-shaped cakes.

The other Haibane are not pleased when they find this out.

4. What are the only types of items that Haibane may buy?

Answer: Secondhand or used items

They must buy used items, except for consumables like food and paints. It would be rather awkward to have to buy used food.

5. Rakka eventually settles into a room of her own. Who suggested this room to her?

Answer: Kuu

Kuu chooses this room for Rakka because it was the room Rakka was born in.

6. What item(s) does Rakka take from Kuu's room?

Answer: Frog figurines

Each frog had been labeled with the name of one of the Haibane. She is also given Kuu's bed, as she did not yet have one.

Answer: A crow, in a well

She sees a crow's skeleton at the bottom of a well after she climbs down. She buries it.

8. What does Rakka first do to try to keep the others from seeing her blackening wings?

Answer: She cuts off the feathers.

She does resort to the medicine and wing covers later; eventually her wings return to their normal grey color.

9. Where does Rakka eventually get a job?

Answer: The temple

Her job is also her punishment for touching the outer wall: to gather what is used to make the Haibane halos. While working, she believes she hears Kuu laughing from beyond the wall.

10. What turned out to be missing from Reki's cocoon dream?

Answer: A train, which ran her over

She sees the train about to hit her and only then calls to Rakka for help. Rakka saves her and this act allows Reki to peacefully achieve her Day of Flight.
