The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Quiz

Back when Peter Quill was no less than a young spacefarer amongst the Ravagers, he tried to hold a small Christmas celebration with Kraglin supporting the cause. Unfortunately for them, Yondu, then the leader of the Ravagers, had no intent to celebrate the holiday, instead destroying their gifts and made-up tree. Kraglin looks back at the event and reminds the others that, on Earth, it'd be coming around to Christmastime. It brings back some memories.

Christmas, Nebula reasons, would be a bit of a distraction. As the Guardians have purchased Knowhere from The Collector, there's a lot of work to be done to ensure it's a liveable place. Mantis says that the story is heartbreaking while she watches on and spies Peter Quill signing for some incoming supplies down below.

Answer: Mantis

While Rocket and a telekinetic Cosmo the Spacedog attempt to repair one of Knowhere's buildings using the latter's powers, Quill is met by a group of street performers who, using a number of Earth instruments, debut a Christmas song to him, hoping for a bit of editing to ensure they're getting all the facts right. They don't, and the crowd that comes in to listen isn't particularly excited.

Mantis and Drax discuss the fact that Christmas might be a wonderful time, but Yondu ruined it for Peter. Mantis feels like she should do something, especially since she and Quill share the same father. Peter is sad because Gamora is gone, but this could make him happy again.

Answer: Kevin Bacon

Mantis reasons that getting Quill something special he'll never forget is the play, but Drax takes it further, claiming that getting someONE will make a stronger impression, and the one person who Quill's been talking about forever, who's saved countless lives...

...is Kevin Bacon.

Kevin Bacon returns home with a trunk full of Christmas gifts and waits for his family to return from New York for the holiday. It's the perfect circumstance for Mantis and Drax to fly in from Knowhere and collect him.

Answer: Los Angeles

Mantis and Drax fly to Hollywood in search of Kevin Bacon, accidentally coming in without their cloaking device on and attracting the attention of the locals. They park and make their way to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, intending to ask around for Bacon's whereabouts (and coming along Marvel superhero impersonators instead) but getting distracted and making a good amount of money along the way.

As night falls, the pair end up coming across a busy bar, using their recently acquired money to buy drinks and join the fun. None of it pans out to finding Kevin Bacon, unfortunately. They catch a lucky break when a woman gives them a map to movie stars' homes.

Answer: A plastic candy cane

Kevin Bacon, making dinner and sitting down for the evening, prepares for a quiet night at home but it's spoiled when he receives callers at his front gate-- Mantis and Drax-- who've arrived searching for him. They don't take no for an answer either. Instead of leaving well enough alone, Drax throws Mantis over the front gate and leaps over himself.

The pair steal a couple of Christmas decorations and knock on the front door, much to Kevin's ire, and though he calls the police, the two break in and chase him off the property. Unfortunately, Drax leaves his stolen elf behind-- they're here for Kevin Bacon, after all.

Answer: An actor

The police arrive while Kevin runs down the empty street, fortunately, but it's too late. The cops fire their weapons on Drax to no avail while Mantis compels the officers to sleep, nearly doing the same to Kevin before back-up arrives. Drax flips a police car over, nearly killing the officers, but the two make sure that no one has come to severe harm. Out of kindness, Mantis leaves her plastic candy cane behind to compensate for the damage left behind in their wake.

It takes little time for the pair to come across Kevin again, compelling him to join them. But first they stop off at a Christmas store, buy some decorations, and do up their ship, filling it to the brim with holiday items.

It takes even less time before Mantis and Drax discover that Kevin Bacon isn't actually a hero-- just an actor. They may have gotten Quill the worst gift ever.

Mantis compels Kevin Bacon to try to be a hero and it doesn't go all too well, especially when Kevin tries to take on different heroic roles. All they need is for him to be himself, but a hero instead of an actor.

Before long they arrive at Knowhere and Quill hears the distant sound of Christmas music, following it out to find that someone has decorated the streets with lights and ornaments. As a snowmaker is turned on, Mantis wishes Peter a Merry Christmas on behalf of everyone. And there, under a spotlight, they present him with a human-sized present that shakes and struggles for air. Of course there are no air holes in the box.

Answer: The Bowie

When Quill opens the box and Kevin Bacon steps out to reveal that he is the gift, Quill isn't happy with the others as they've clearly kidnapped a human being. Kevin claims to be stoked to be there, but it's obvious that he's in a trance. When Mantis brings the trance down though, things spiral out of control; Kevin is terrified to be on an alien planet surrounded by creatures of all sorts. Quill tries to calm him down and sends Kraglin to start the ship, but Kevin runs away.

As the Christmas ornaments are taken down, Kraglin brings Kevin to the ship and lets the actor know that Quill always looked up to him. Quill became a hero because of Kevin's movies and the others believed he'd bring the joy of Christmas with him.

Answer: Game Boy

Before the Bowie leaves, Kevin receives a call from his wife (yes, satellite service from lightyears away) and lets her know that he'll be getting home a little late since he has some friends who need to get into the Christmas spirit. Returning to Knowhere's streets he joins the band and performs a holiday track for everyone.

While the music plays, Quill gifts Groot with a classic Game Boy; Nebula gifts Rocket with Bucky Barnes' metal arm; Cosmo gifts Kraglin with a dead space rat; Mantis gives Drax the inflatable elf he left behind; Groot gives everyone a series of wood-carved dioramas.

At the end of the night, everyone wishes Kevin a goodbye and sends him home to Earth.

As the Knowhere Christmas celebration comes to an end, Quill thanks Mantis for bringing the holiday spirit to him and she explains she did it because of Kraglin's story about Yondu. Quill corrects her, however, since Kraglin never knew how the story really ended.

After Yondu took apart Peter's Christmas decorations he checked the trash and found that Peter had made him heartfelt gifts. In return, Yondu gifted Peter his trademark twin blasters.

Mantis claims that she just wanted to do something special because she's been hiding her secret. Quill's father, Ego, also happened to be her father. Despite Mantis' worry that Quill would be terrified by the news, he expresses his happiness that they're half-brother and half-sister. As they embrace they wish each other a Merry Christmas after all.
