Canadian-born British actress Tanya Moodie plays the part of Mrs. Snee, the head of the TV news department. In episode 1, she coldly terminates the newsman's employment. Moodie is an accomplished actress on the British stage, on British and American television (Portia in "The Man Who Fell to Earth" (2022)), and in film (General Parnadee in "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" (2019)).

He agrees to help the news team infiltrate and expose the Pentaverate, which he believes to be behind all manner of global events. Reilly asks him "Hey, Anthony, do you ever think your obsession with conspiracies is a substitute for real human connection?"

Answer: a secret society of men who help the world

According to Rob Lowe, who plays a fictionalized version of himself, "The Pentaverate is a benevolent, fully sequestered secret society of five men, who, since 1347, have been experts in their fields. Men like Leonardo Da Vinci, Jonas Salk, and the Quaker Oats guy." They place great value on secrecy; their motto is "the Pentaverate must never be exposed." The Pentaverate is well-intentioned and immensely powerful ... but nice.

Answer: "So I Married an Axe Murderer" (1993)

In the 1993 motion picture "So I Married an Axe Murderer," the Pentaverate is mentioned. It is described as a group of five people who host a triennial world meeting at a secret location called The Meadows. These five are identified as "The Queen, the Vatican, the Gettys, the Rothschilds, and Colonel Sanders before he went tits up."

Answer: The Liechtenstein Guard

The Liechtenstein Guard dress in Medieval uniforms, similar to those worn by the royal guards of the Duchy of Grand Fenwick as portrayed in "The Mouse That Roared" (1959). The guards are led by Exalted Pikeman Higgins. He says "All right, you dolphin lickers, this man is gonna teach you the Canadian art of Defendo. He already taught you one lesson. The Liechtenstein Guard are a band of brothers."

Executive Assistant Patty Davis, played by Debi Mazar, has a diverse job description. In episode 2, Dr. Hobart Clark, the newest member of the Pentaverate, solves the problem of global warming and Patty seduces him. The next morning, she finds him dead.

In episode 5, she manually overrides a computer lock-out of the Pentaverate transportation system. She stands firm against the possibility of failure, saying "We don't use the f-word around here. We call failure an early attempt at success."

Answer: MENTOR

Jason Eccleston, himself a tech genius, designed and built the Pentaverate's computer but died (was killed) before he could use it to solve global warming. Because it was smarter than all of the members of the Pentaverate, he named it MENTOR. In episode 5, renegade members of the Pentaverate disclose their intentions to see MENTOR to the highest bidder at the upcoming Meadows summit, which, in episode 6, they attempt to do.

Answer: a sasquatch

Phill Martin plays the part of the sasquatch in "The Pentaverate." When the protagonist flees to Dubrovnik to steal a key, he is pursued by the sasquatch. For some reason, in episode 4, when the sasquatch appears, he is accompanied by the theme song to "The Six Million Dollar Man." One of the (many) criticisms of this programme arises from the sasquatch defecating in the hallways of the Pentaverate buildings.

Answer: Ergo and Anso

Ergo is the Latin word for "therefore." Anso is similar to Adso in Umberto Eco's "The Name of the Rose" (1980). Adso de Melk is the young son of the Baron de Melk, a Benedictive novice, and the assistant to the Franciscan William of Baskerville. When the Maester of Dubrovnik uses the Latin "ergo" in a sentence, his assistant Ergo answers. And when he says "and so" in a sentence, Anso answers.

Answer: the spare key

In episode 3, Higgens dispatches the protagonist to Dubrovnik (the spiritual birthplace of the Pentaverate) to fetch the parce clavem. Parce Clavem which is Latin for spare key. It is necessary to keep the powers of the Pentaverate out of evil hands. In episode 6, he refuses to use the parce clavem and thereby defeats the malefactors.

Answer: the Septaverate

In episode 6, "The Finale," Lordington, Mishu, and Shep invoke the Demetrius Protocols and commit suicide. The protagonist is merged with MENTOR which now becomes KENTOR. A new successor secret organization is created with Reilly, Patty, and a group of five others chosen with concern for gender and ethnic diversity. It is called the Septaverate.
